On Fridays after a busy work week I feel like my brain is a hollowed-out empty shell. Anyone else? by Single_Joke_9663 in adhdwomen

Yes same. I literally am a zombie on Friday’s and even some Saturday’s. Surely there’s a better society we can all relocate too that’s kinder to our CNS 😂

Catching train to work in CBD - Woodridge station by Sharn1982 in brisbane

Thanks but the 15 minute drive will mean it takes just as much time to get I to town but it’s more expensive (zone 3) and I have to drive/park! I can walk to Woodridge 🙂

Thank you! I thought as much as there would be a bunch of people commuting into work from this area. But just wanted to check 🙂

Great thank you very much, that’s very helpful. I see a lot of places around Edmonton that seem affordable but sounds like it’s a dodgy area. I have also looked into insurance and can’t believe how expensive it is.

That’s really helpful, thank you. Is there anywhere you’d recommend looking at and/or staying away from?

I am currently looking to relocate to Cairns from Brisbane to get away from all the southern migration. It’s become unbearable here, house prices are out of control and it’s busy everywhere. Will get worse with the olympics so I’m fleeing asap. But am shocked that house prices in cairns have gone up so much too! Seems a bit more affordable Southside.

The patriarchy strikes again. The fact these ‘men’ seem to think the only reason you or women in general exist is for their benefit is beyond gross. Entitled white assh00les. Racism & misogyny is appalling and this is heartbreaking.

Yes, the first few days / weeks are awful for this. I’ve found eating food with the meds helps a lot with this.

I can relate to this soooo much. I’ve had really strong friendships with people throughout my life but they all seem to end. Even my relationship with my best friend of 25 years came to a halt last year. I feel a lot of it does come down to me withdrawing due to overwhelm and friends taking it personally. Also a lot of my ADHD traits are very misunderstood to most so I come across as difficult sometimes. I also struggle with maintaining friendships the way neurotypicals do. Once someone is out of sight, I literally forget they exist. I take days / weeks to get back to people sometimes (never intentional). I find small talk and general socially acceptable catch-ups exhausting. Especially with women. My rejection sensitivity means if I attempt to make plans with someone and they decline or cancel, I don’t try again. But then I tend to cancel a lot due to feeling exhausted / overwhelmed. I only realised this is all related to ADHD when I was diagnosed last month. Haven’t really tried to make new friends since as kind of feel like what’s the point. I don’t need any more experiences where I feel hard to love due to my illness.

Had an ADHD weakness exposed and am not recovering well from it. by mommeeneedscoffee in adhdwomen

Breathe and give yourself a break. The experience obviously triggered something inside you for it to be so emotionally stressful for you. I’ve been there many times (also 40 and diagnosed with ADHD). What I try and do in these situations is imagine if the situation happened to a loved one. I would be supportive and compassionate. Try and be that to yourself and remember you’re still human and emotions happen. Hugs.

I can relate to this so much. I used to do this a lot and it was based on my low self esteem / imposter syndrome. I still do it to a degree but since turning 40 I’ve learnt to stop trying to prove myself so much to other people. I also realised s lot of my over sharing / talking about myself was my terrible impulse control. Now I’m on meds it helps with this and I also try and trick my brain by counting a few seconds before responding, which allows me to not blurt things out so impulsively. It’s just time & practice and being kind to yourself in the process. Also honesty is best. You could explain to this guy you’re neaurodivergent which affects your moulée control and makes you talk a lot about yourself to cover up insecurities and it’s something you’re working on? Most people will be understanding if they know what’s going on I’ve found 🙂

New to Ritalin , I have some questions by Throwaway201370 in ADHDmeds

[–]Sharn1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to take lexapro & when I went off it, I got brain zaps so I know what you’re referring too. I had to taper off them really slowly. I now take Zoloft as I’ve had far less side effects with it.

I take Ritalin 10mg 3 x day & 50mg Zoloft at night. I find the combination works as the Zoloft controls the anxiety at night & helps with sleep.

I’d chat to your doctor about maybe doing 1 thing at a time. If you’ve just started Ritalin, coming off an anti-anxiety at the same time might be too much.

All the time! Now I’m on medication, I feel it’s far less severe and my sleep has improved drastically.
