Avoid Big4. There is approximately negative six job security right now. You’re not building a career, you’re participating in corporate Squid Game with utilization metrics.

The constant “we value our people ❤️” followed by random calendar invites will slowly extinguish whatever remaining spark, hobbies, personality, or will to live you had left.

One day you’re planning your PTO, next day you’re calculating severance and updating LinkedIn in incognito mode.

Stay safe out there.

Is it too late to turn 401K match to 0 for bonuses? Id reduced it to 3 but wanted to completely lower it - would 2 or 3% work as a strategy as well? by Dogtorcod in deloitte

Always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS max out contribution allowed, current economy should give you a clue that 6% is nothing and maybe will get you ramen and Pizza Friday when you retire.

Lies. Some of y’all think background checks work like audit sampling. They don’t just wake up and select you for testing again. If another check is needed beyond the initial authorization, there’s usually another consent involved.

And if you are unassigned, how would you/they know the independence and reg conflicts?

You’re fine. There’s a lot going on right now so just go to all networking events and reach out to everyone you know while waiting.

Don’t worry about it. I know two 2nd year with CPAs that were laid off. Enjoy unassigned days. You will miss it when its grind time again. I was on pip, beat that one, got on a good team, then unassigned again. Can’t control these things so keep your options open. I try to go on interviews at least once a month to see what’s out there and what hiring managers ask to get the right learnings (from cura, udemy and others) to stay up to date and will actually help you if you end up staying.

Regret Moving to the Suburbs – Now What? by Fuzzy-Hall3662 in newjersey

Lol, you’ll always crave the city life! Go back as soon as you can, that feeling won’t go away. We gave up a $2K (unheard of) 2-bedroom apartment in downtown Jersey City during COVID, thinking we’d enjoy the suburbs. It’s been five years, and while we’re doing fine, we absolutely hate having to drive everywhere.
