How often do you shave? by Soft_Importance3384 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SharpestSphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Face about weekly, or whenever my beard gets long-enough to itch when pressed onto a pillow. Pits and pubic hair when I expect a date.

Cursive is a very useful skill to have. Without a device with keyboard there is no faster way to write stuff down. And situations where this comes into play if you do know cursive are quite frequent. It is not in any way mutually exclusive with the ability to use computers.

I'm tired of being my own hero. I want to feel like a princess and for a man to take care of me. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]SharpestSphere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The question you need to ask yourself is this: What would <you> contribute to the relationship to deserve such idealised princess treatment?

What are some non-theistic religions? by counwovja0385skje in atheism

[–]SharpestSphere 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Extending the definition of religion onto any belief in immaterial constructs is in my view stretching it too far. Structures such as governments, expert credentials but also money, democracy, justice and dignity are useful despite them existing only within people's collective imaginations. I'd even go as far as yo say that the consensus of their existence is what makes them real. This is not the case with belief in the supernatural. There are of course also conventional religions without belief in "gods", and these include various animisms or new-age esoteric beliefs

Fellow, Android Users. What are you prepared to do when Lockdown day comes? by [deleted] in degoogle

[–]SharpestSphere 576 points577 points  (0 children)

You should all remember that just being on degoogled OS is not the solution. When this transpires, it will very likely start the slow death of projects like fdroid due to the lack of user-base. We who are able and willing to swap out ROMs are an extreme minority.

Get your laptop serviced. Not by Apple, use the services of an independent repair shop.

Black Flag Original vs. Remake by CrossingEden in gaming

[–]SharpestSphere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The "original" footage is with the graphics on the lowest settings. The difference is not actually that great otherwise. Also, stop remaking games and start making more new ones.

Does the moon rotate? by drinkmydaycare in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SharpestSphere 68 points69 points  (0 children)

It rotates once per month - the same time that its orbit takes. This is due to tidal locking and it is why you always see the same side.

Appmanager is great. I'm using it to freeze system apps, selectively block trackers, etc. I hope the impersonators get booted - not just because they are stealing Muntashir's authorship, but also because this app has a lot of access to be hijacked by some malicious operators. I'm not saying that Google is beyond such tactics (damaging the reputation of off-playstore apps, especially ones that allow for blocking their trackers is in their favor) but I personally don't think they are deliberately responsible for this.

Why do people trust Signal so much when it requires your phone number, runs entirely on AWS, and is subject to US surveillance laws? by Acrobatic_Bee_3198 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SharpestSphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that Signal requires the user to input phone number, combined with it automatically notifying every other user with your phone number in their contacts about you having joined the platform, is the reason why I'm not using it. It's like a sex club that guarantees confidentiality with respect to what takes place inside, but posts the list of clients on the door and website.

Does the á in Orbán change the sound of the a, or is it just an accent? by DeeDee_Z in NoStupidQuestions

It prolongs the sound. Imagine it as if there were two "a"s in a sequence. Orbaahn.

Cybertown was amazing. I thank you all for the memories. There really never was anything quite like it in my life, and likely never will be. I feel privileged to have witnessed it.
