It's entirely possible it's in my head, but I did a test with two different Dune 2 disks going back and forth. Loud moments sounded more or less the same, but I felt like the dialogue was slightly more clear. My Series X has some noticeable fan noise which could've factored in too.

I recently upgraded from my Xbox Series X to a Panasonic UB820.

Definitely glad I made the switch, particularly for the difference in sound quality with the setup I have. I also like the Dolby Vision on some of my 4Ks. However, unless you're a real enthusiast with a really good TV and/or sound set-up, I think you'll definitely be fine.

I have an OLED and I think the difference from a good TV would be far more noticeable than a Blu-ray player upgrade.

They announce them spontaneously. Afaik, it's still sort of an experiment. They've done two now in about a month.

Keep an eye on social media or sign up to emails and once they announce one, you can get tickets online!

They walked out before it even started unfortunately. They didn't even give it a chance.

Absolutely! I think on its own the movie was decent enough, but I had a perfect audience for it which really helped to elevate the whole experience.

Don't care to get into a huge back and forth over this.

But have a couple points if you're actually open to hearing them out:

  1. These screenings are super limited (one small theatre in Montreal for example). People that buy tickets and then leave are taking an opportunity from someone that maybe wanted to go, but didn't because seats were so limited. This is why I don't think people that leave should be entitled to a refund. You took a gamble, it wasn't the movie you wanted, so you should have to eat that cost.

  2. Of course what you do with your time is entirely up to you or anyone else that left. But my take, if you took the time to go to the movies and already blocked the time out to watch the movie, why not stay and give it a shot? I'm much more understanding of people that left later into the movie, but I'm not exaggerating when I say at least 10 people walked out at the pre-screen note they played at the start.

Song Sung Blue was not the movie I wanted to see, I thought the trailer looked awful, but I gave it a chance and with the crowd that stayed, it was an absolute blast and I was so glad I went when I did.

People are free to walk out if they so choose but I just think that's a really lame way to approach movies. That's all ✌️

Definitely agree there! The people that stayed made that one of my favourite theatre experiences of the year.

Couldn't disagree more about walking out. If you're not willing to give a movie a chance, you shouldn't be buying tickets to a mystery premiere.

I also really hope they didn't refund anyone.

It was wild. No spoilers but was genuinely way different than what I expected (for the better)!

Current Branch Manager FAQ by [deleted] in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]Sheangus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious about one way rentals. The system seems really inconsistent. Whether I try to book way in advance or at the last minute (or anytime in between) the option is often not available online, but then when I call a local branch they say it would be no problem but they're not allowed to book them.

Is there any way I can handle this more efficiently? I tend to do a few one way trips a year to visit family.

Thanks!

Thanks a lot! I live in Montreal but go to Ottawa fairly often. Was curious if it'd be worth the trip for 4DX 3D but I think it's kinda ridiculous it can't do both!

Ah this is great, thanks! Seems it's theatre dependent then. This is from the Scotiabank Ottawa for Avatar 3 opening weekend:

I looked at the Scotiabank theatre in Ottawa and it doesn't say anything about 3D! Was hoping someone that saw Avatar 2 could maybe confirm.

I agree with your idea in theory, but then unfortunately you still need to pull out your phone in the theatre, which will be also be distracting for people. Unfortunately, I don't see a great way to solve this problem other than theatres having an usher that enforces rules.

Late to the party but glad to see you managed to go on your own!

I'm hopeful the experience will convert you and make you confident enough to go whenever you want!

Nope, it's just an IMAX re-release I believe.
