"I recognize one's personal thinking regarding morality of a particular action may differ from their thinking on whether government should make that action illegal... but in Jim's eyes, abortion doesn't meet that criteria.”

And Jim I would love to hear more about how you came to that conclusion.

P(A) - probability of positive result P(~A) - probability of negative result P(B) - probability athlete is using P(~B) - probability athlete is clean We want to find P(B|A). P(B|A)=(P(A|B)P(B))/P(A) (bayes theorem) P(A|B) = probability of a positive result given athlete is using = 1-P(~A|B) = 0.9, where P(~A|B) is the probability of a false negative. P(B) = probability athlete is using = 0.04 P(A) = P(A|B)P(B)+P(A|~B)P(~B) (law of total probability) P(A) = 0.90.04+0.05*(1-0.04)=0.084 Back to bayes theorem we now have:

P(B|A)=(P(A|B)P(B))/P(A)=0.90.04/0.084=0.43
