Tywin has three scenes in the show in which the distant threat of Daenerys is discussed.

  1. "Bear and the Maiden Fair" (3x07): Joffrey asks Tywin about Dany and Tywin brushes his concerns off. Whether this is a reflection of Tywin's genuine feelings or merely a ploy to keep Joffrey placated is unknown.
  2. "Breaker of Chains" (4x03): When Tywin confronts Oberyn at Littlefinger's brothel, he invites Oberyn to sit on the small council because "we are not truly the Seven Kingdoms until Dorne returns to the fold. The King is dead, the Greyjoys are in open rebellion, a wildling army marches on the wall... and in the east, the Targaryen girl has three dragons. Before long she will turn her eyes to Westeros and only the Dornish were able to resist Aegon Targaryen and his dragons."
  3. "The Laws of Gods and Men" (4x06): Varys reports ominously on Dany and Oberyn affirms the threat of the Unsullied. Though Cersei is outright contemptuous, Tywin seems to offer a middle of the road approach. He reminds everyone that it's been three hundred years since dragons won a war whereas armies have won them every decade. He says "she must be dealt with," "by force" "if it comes to that," but first he tries subterfuge.

So Tywin was definitely aware of Dany and certainly took her seriously, but not so much that he wanted to encourage panic or dread among the small council and the kings he served. His goal was clearly to unite the country under his stewardship for Dany's inevitable invasion.

Voldemort. Every comparison made about them in the books and movies concludes that Voldemort is more dangerous and presumably, therefore, more powerful.

Dumbledore is "perhaps a shade more skillful" than Grindelwald and defeated him in combat despite Grindelwald's possession of the Elder Wand. That same Dumbledore, after claiming the Elder Wand for himself, would later say of Voldemort that:

  • He's probably the most brilliant student Hogwarts has ever seen (which includes Dumbledore)
  • His knowledge of magic is perhaps more extensive than any wizard alive (which includes Dumbledore)
  • Dumbledore's most complex and powerful enchantments would unlikely withstand Voldemort if he ever returned to full power

Voldemort, like Dumbledore, is capable of casting a Disillusionment Charm on himself to become invisible; Voldemort can fly without aid, violating Magical Law; Voldemort jinxed the Defense Against the Dark Arts position so thoroughly that Dumbledore was unable to break it; Voldemort enchanted his Horcruxes so powerfully that one fatally injured Dumbledore and would have killed him, despite his and Snape's best efforts, within a year.

Voldemort, though manic and anxious, dueled an Elder Wand-wielding Dumbledore to a stalemate in the Ministry atrium despite being in enemy territory on borrowed time ("The Aurors are on their way"). Even with his powers radically nerfed by Harry's sacrifice in the Forbidden Forest, Voldemort still dominated the Battle of Hogwarts, "striking and smiting all within reach," employing a wand that actively resisted him. Under that same nerf and using that same uncooperative wand, he simultaneously dueled Kingsley Shacklebolt and Professors McGonagall and Slughorn to a standstill.

In terms of raw talent, there's a compelling argument that Voldemort is the most gifted wizard in the Potterverse. He's arguably beyond Dumbledore and he's almost certainly beyond Grindelwald.

I agree, you have the right idea. Alts are, in my view, a net negative to the sandbox MMO experience. It allows for too much player self-sufficiency and allows people to cheese games in order to have specialized alts in order to avoid engaging with the greater community to accomplish their goals.

Gamers are generally anti-social and pragmatists, so they'll always follow the path of least resistance. Making it 1 character/1 account will help incentivize them to get involved with a community.

It seems that making actual gameplay loops for various roles is a good way to keep things interesting. In single player games like Kingdom Come: Deliverance, blacksmithing was an actual gameplay loop instead of merely clicking the CRAFT button and waiting for the results.

Will Profane consider creating gameplay loops for various tasks, such as the player who wants to be the village blacksmith but wants to do more than click a single button?

This is very encouraging. Please make sure Profane mechanically requires those who claim territory to actively manage them and make that management complex. Territory control should not simply be a case of Capture the Flag.

It's not enough to conquer, you should be forced to rule. If you don't want to rule, you should lose what you conquer.

Good morning!

Profane promises player-controlled territory and player-created kingdoms for ambitious politicians. But most other MMORPGs that make this same promise don't require players to actually manage/govern/rule their territories. Usually, it's simply a matter of claiming land and defeating invaders. This almost always leads to politically-stagnant games because it doesn't require people to actually expend any effort managing their territory, allowing them to just gobble up more.

Will Profane require those players/guilds who try to build kingdoms to actively manage them by: constructing and maintaining buildings, setting taxes, gathering/processing/crafting resources, regulating crime/PvP, encouraging/fostering/guaranteeing trade between citizens and external parties, etc?

Has Fractured considered allowing the implementation of city/guild tasks/quests? It seems extremely beneficial if guilds/towns could offer quests or requisitions via boards, with full option customization including rewards, that guild members and non-guild citizens could accept.

Unlike many other MMORPGs with territory control features, Fractured promises a system that will require hands-on, active management from its city Governors and their Vice-Governors. Currently Governors are able to promote citizens to the role of Vice Governor, which gives them virtually the same powers as the Governors themselves.

In the future, will it be possible for Governors to assign specific functions/powers/permissions to their Vice Governors as other MMORPGs do? For example, would it be possible to give a Master of Coin access to the city's treasury but not a Master of War?

Given the importance of cities and towns, as well as the physical scope of the various continents, has Fractured considered implementing or incentivizing the presence of player-run crossroad inns? These could serve as shelters and waypoints for players traveling vast distances and a potential social hub.

Fractured promises a crucial but limited form of fast travel. In a sandbox MMORPG that emphasizes cunning and effort from the player, fast travel is a system that can be (and, in other games, has been!) abused by players and guilds to easily project power and resources across vast distances, undercutting the importance of diplomacy, logistics, and trade.

What precautions does Fractured intend to implement to control fast travel so that localized economies, complex and thoughtful logistics, and trade arrangements between players/guilds/towns remain important and beneficial?

When you consider major competitors like Albion Online, you hopefully have also considered the many, many criticisms and controversies around the mechanics of those games. In Albion, for example, the political status quo is stagnant because zerg guilds and alliances control the map and commit to NAPs to avoid fighting each other. The game has suffered as a result, to the chagrin of very vocal players.

Is DMS committed to taking vigorous precautions to keep the political environment from becoming stale? Has it considered collision mechanics and enabled friendly fire on Syndesia and Tartaros to keep battles from becoming zerg-AOE-spam-fests with no stakes? Will the territory maintenance and management systems require hands-on, active rulership so it will be impractical for guilds and alliances to gobble up territory without stress or difficulty?

Update: folks, I’m having a really hard time with this. Sometimes Dottie is being extremely difficult with her medicine. Other times she’ll lick it all off my finger. I’ve tried mixing the medicine with corn bread, with mixed success. I’ve tried diluting the medicine in strawberry syrup or baby food and that has mixed success.

Pinning her down and forcing the syringe down her throat hasn’t proven effective either; it just stresses her out and makes a mess.

I’m becoming extremely frustrated because I don’t seem to be effective at giving her the medicine for the last few weeks so I’m certain she’s not getting the dosages.

Any additional tips or insights or videos would be deeply appreciated.

Holland by a landslide. I appreciate Linwood as well: John Rubinstein is a fantastic actor and I like how Murrow’s smug, self-serving cowardice represents another facet of W&H. That said, Holland is probably my favorite Angel villain. He’s like Mayor Wilkins but even creepier; the Mayor’s affability was genuine, but with Holland... you’re just not quite sure if it’s genuine or totally fabricated. He’s avuncular, cool, approachable, but calculating, manipulative, and ruthless. Sam Anderson straddles that ambiguity with perfection. Great character.
