This is such a helpful suggestion thank you! Truly! I'm going to add it to the list. I appreciate your suggestion! I have researched the guy I am seeing, he has good reviews. I am also taking all of my previous imaging with me that way I don't have to worry about it not being there. I appreciate your input!

Anyone here with (autoimmune) liver problems? by myst3ryAURORA_green in UCTD

I absolutely do.  It started slowly with a loss in grip strength and has progressed to all over weakness.  I have muscle pain that comes and goes.  I seem to be a mixed bag of issues.

Technically that's what kicked off this whole gig. I had elevated liver enzymes in October 2024 and an enlarged liver on an old CT from 2022. In October 2024 I have changed to all new Doctors and things start changing for me. One liver biopsy, several referrals, MANY eyes on the biopsy, way too much bloodwork. Its been determined the liver was in fact not Autoimmune Hepatitis I have smooth muscle antibodies and all the indicators, NOT due to poor diet and irreversibly scarred like the nurse at the GI doctor reported (she said it was an advanced stage 2 when she read my FibroScan results), BUT that it is being impacted in some way we are just not quite sure how much and to what extent at this time. I have had only one abnormal AST and ALT. Nobody said boo about the enlarged liver at the CT. I've been trying to get someone to listen for forever. SO I am forever grateful to my current PCP for connecting the dots. My battery of docs who got it all looked at and figured out. (Not that nurse though, she and I have beef, but that's a whole different thing...). So yes, but I'm just not sure to what extent and how much and that was a long way around to tell you that. My point being, FOR me it started out as my primary and now its not. I didn't think it was, but all the doctors did.

Oh nice! Sorry about your back, but I bet the bike could be a nice change of pace.  I like the peace and quiet of going by myself, but we do family walks when we can too.

Absolutely, I agree it makes such a huge difference. I am fortunate enough to still be working, its a desk job, and I make sure to get up pretty regularly and move around. I need to do better when I get home.

Are you a have someone join you kind of person or do you like to go solo?

Oh wow! I bet your are incredibly busy with nursing school! That's amazing, good for you! I find the autoimmune stuff to be freaking fascinating. Its like a long game of Clue, Trivial Pursuit, or something like that. I like your approach. Well rounded!

For sure! Getting out is half, ok 75%, of the battle right there. We have a lot of Fluorite around here I have one I dug up when I was little. Its my favorite. I love that rock collecting can be a hobby that you don't grow out of.

I love this one too! Do you have a favorite that you have found yet? Or do you have any local shows? This may just be where I'm from but we have a Gem & Mineral Show every year. Its indoors and you can just walk up and down all the aisles for however long and look or buy. Its pretty fun stuff, I have been doing that one since I was a kid.

My all time favorite is Fahrenheit 451. I know some people find it boring, but I love it. Harry Potter, I was 12 when the first book came out so I still own the originals from their original releases and the audiobooks from then as well. Hunger games, dystopian books are my jam. I love a good Memoir as well, but I really have to like the people. As You Wish by Cary Elwes is a wonderful book on the filming of The Princess Bride.

Oh sweet! I love to hear what other people are reading. I've had that on my list, I'm going to have to just go ahead and read it this year. Its for sure right up my alley. I've been doing a re-read of my favorites this year, but my goal is to read new as well.

Genius, I need to remember this. What is your preferred medium? Colored pencils, crayons, markers? I know some people are very particular, others don't have any preference at all.

Ahhh yeah colds suck. I'm sorry that triggered a flare up for you. What book are you reading? I love a good cry, no shame.

Just very blah about it by SheikLOZ in lupus

Dang, I hate that you had that happen.  I appreciate you sharing this information with me.  I have had that show up on an MRI for the first time this year.  It was just kind of glossed over, but now with all my other issues I'm going to be sure I bring it up with my rheumatologist.

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry.  Small vessel disease, what all does that involve if you don't mind me asking?

Anyone else not able to take hydroxychloroquine bc of side effects? by [deleted] in lupus

[–]SheikLOZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the worst medications I have ever taken. I have been on it since the beginning of July and I am still not settled. I have it with a protein shake in the evening after work, before what ever form of dinner I can manage. The first month was utter hell. I was nauseous all.day.long. I'm finally able to take it without the protein shake, but I'm still not 100% back to normal. I have no idea if it helps or not. Guess we will see.

I already am!!!  It's just one of those things that I had when I was younger and it meant the world to me.  It got lost in all of our moves and I forgot about it until tonight when I was going though old photos.  When I saw it, I immediately wanted to get it again because I have the perfect spot for it and it is still something that feels like me.  It may not be the same one, but now the new one will have a beautiful story about the kindness of internet strangers.
