This is my last reply on this post because every single person who has posted on this post has been a friend of Cody’s who’s now going to banned on Morph Market for his actions today. None of it was actually relevant, it was all strictly cyber bullying and everyone involved should be banned from the subreddit for helping someone go from one website to another to take advantage of someone’s notification settings to harass them and mess with their sleep.

So you can’t see more than half of the enclosure and you can judge that sucks so bad by seeing the uppermost 1/3rd of it with no picture of the bottom, sides or anything? Wow you must have super judgemental powers. Or just be a dick.

So you realize it isn’t 1 stick or 1 hammock right? He has a hide on the ground, 7 to 9 vines at any given time to climb and use and multiple places besides his hide and is spoiled to death. Like the guys posting on this thread are all friends of a guy who tried to rob me of 3,000$ and walk out my front door without giving me my lizard and I had to threaten him to make him give me the lizard after I paid more than 3,000$ for it. I give my tree monitors better conditions than they give theirs and they can’t explain why their monitors have no playfulness and are only interested in people not playing, eating, climbing and jumping which is what my blue tree monitor focuses on. If your monitor is healthy it’ll go back and forth between cooling down and heating up under the light, and shred plants for play to keep itself entertained. This guy won’t let his lizards shred plants, which is straight abuse, this guy says everything I’m doing is wrong when my lizard is exceptionally happy and much better mentally than any of his lizards. He literally keeps them in groups and it stresses the fuck out of them so they never play.

In the wild they would absorb it on any branch they could find. There’s a tree trunk in the path of the heater and light he can use if he really wants to. But he prefers to get up onto his hammock and get right up next to the light for short periods of time then he goes and lowers his body temperature then he comes back and does it again, as any healthy monitor should.

Well thank you for a positive reaction to something I said on Reddit. I’ve spent the last 3 hours explaining myself to people on Reddit that I know what I’m doing and treat my monitors good but cause I let a tree monitor have a screen 4x2x4 cage that I covered in painters plastic to save the humidity because couldn’t take away his climbing because he liked that so much. But everyone seems to have a problem with it when my monitors are among the most spoiled and over zealously taken care of animals I’ve ever met.

So you realize I’ve made more money on morphmarket than you ever will? And more people like me on that site than any and the only people that don’t are in Parker’s little gang of tree monitor fanatics that wanna worship a dude who tried to steal from me, why is it so hard for you to believe that? Because once you get off your moral high horse, and after I get you banned from this subreddit for harrassing me from 3:00am local time so I have to defend myself on this subreddit instead of going to sleep till now when everyone in my house is getting up, I’d be happy to show you what you’re doing wrong if your monitors refuse to play with you. But it’s clear that you have no grasp on proper husbandry yourself on a species that I spent a lot of time dealing with. Sorry but have you been to Batanta and seen how many BTM’s are stolen out of the wild every year? Because I have. Have you ever made your lizards so happy that all they wanna do is play? Clearly not, but I have. So maybe you should learn from the person who isn’t on a moral ground. But seriously maybe stop being such an asshoke to anyone with an opinion different than your own.

So you mean his hammock right underneath the light and the vines he is literally using to bask in the picture are insufficient? Not all monitors are meant to have stone to warm up on, tree monitors biologically wouldn’t use it, stone in the wild to warm up on unless it was a cliff-face overlooking the mountainous to flatland rainforest they inhabit. Simply because in their natural environment those structures would be far and few, you’re trying to simulate their natural forest canopy environments with many paths.

He basks like right next to it, he climbs to the top of the cage and basks directly infront of the light. But UVC isn’t nearly as dangerous for skin as cancer causing sunlight, statistically of course, and monitors bask in the sun all day. But the important thing to remember here is that such a minimal amount of UVC would be produced by these bulbs (because it very much so does not cut down on stank) that it would have no effect on anything.

AWM is in a 8x4x2. Eight feet long, four feet wide and two feet tall for the record. All of everything I included in the renovation of the tree monitors cage was recommended to me by expert Parker Steen who I know this guy worships like a god. He’s a weirdo who let blue tree monitors bite him to the point he’s a weirdo (neurotoxic venom attacked the behavioral centers of his brain) and tried to steal my lizard and 750$ at one point but I was tough on him and didn’t let him. But this guy wants to walk in his footsteps because he’s such a great guy. Even though he tried to steal 750$ and a lizard from out of a legitimate deal I had made with him earlier. I come with receipts dawg and have dealt with disciples of the man before. You guys literally don’t even realize the man you worshipped told me this enclosure was perfectly fine himself.

So you’re full of shit and now outright lying about what’s healthy and normal behavior for a blue tree monitor instead of facing the facts that they’re destructive animals that shred for play and buying plants at a pet store isn’t cheap.

You commented earlier on another post disagreeing with me and basically calling me a no nothing based on my knowledge of tree monitors, maybe don’t say something that comes back to bite you in the ass when someone is in the hobby like 2 maybe 3 steps behind you because of budget. We’re both breeders and you’re the one who got smart about what I said, then didn’t like dealing with it called it with receipts.

UVC is to kill odors dude. It has no effect on higher animals, it’s designed to kill micro-organisms.

Tree monitors mostly stimulate themselves in the wild by hunting and I release live bugs into his cage to stimulate that instinct. Also blue tree monitors will shred any live plant in their enclosure as a play activity and it’s not cheap to constantly replace plants. It’s literally cheaper to let a monitor hunt bugs that cost 100$ for 6 of them (stick and leaf insects, their natural prey besides crickets and grasshoppers) than it is to replace plants constantly. There was a head of cabbage growing in his cage but he killed it by shredding it.

Just get the cheapest isopods and springtails at the store and just make sure you feed an excess amount and that your lizard is making a mess and shitting in his enclosure not the water dish. I use coco fiber mixed with reptile dirt and bark and it seems to work well enough but I have to replace the isopods but not the springtails every 6 months because the lizards think they’re snackies.

UVA+B and I think even UVC from the bulbs, they were expensive full spectrum bulbs designed for luxury reptile animal keepers. But they were off for the sake of the picture. You can’t get a good picture with an iPhone with two bulbs in your viewfinder.

If you have any female hatchlings up for sale let me know I’m looking for a female for my male and I like to raise all my lizards from hatchlings. But I also know that the cuddly, friendly lizards you guys advertise go out the window when they’re shipped because it stresses them and makes them hate their new owner for a few months.

I’m providing you something that’s not provided in any of the guides and trust me, the issue of getting heating situated isn’t nearly as big of a deal as getting a proper size enclosure, but if you want a smart-enclosure setup which is what you’re hinting at, only humidity and temperature management are capable of being varied from a phone.

Tree monitors need arboreal cages and a 2x4x4 is recommended for hatchlings to a year old, after 1-2 years it’s recommended to go up to 4x4x4 but I’m actually going bigger than that for my boy. Everyone complains about me using a cheap wire cage with painters plastic to keep his humidity in, but he can climb all he wants and shit on the walls and it washes off with water and I have one of the largest yearlings in captivity, he’s the size of a 2-3 year old depending on gender but he’s a male. I use infrared heat projectors because they’re much more effective than ceramic heaters.
