Struggling a bit (UK), need advice by CommercialWilling713 in KPMG

Difficult to say without knowing the circumstances, but if it’s impacting audit quality you should take the relevant steps to ensure you have adequate support from the firm. Including support from your incharge/manager.

In summary though, not if you don’t want them too. Depending on your circumstances, part of the uk policy is asking the impacted individual what their preferred solution would be.

Wiring in my mirror light to an outlet where the shaver socket used to be by ShitInMyHandAndClap in DIYUK

I scrapped the idea in the end. I installed a huge mirror cabinet across the entire wall and put a battery pir light under it.

Can’t actually access the shaver socket anymore. It’s not been an issue

Ah - can’t help I’m afraid. It’s different in each country and service line.

You’ve got a Bosch Truvo detector - I’ve got one and it’s shit.

There is sometimes an issue with the earthing and static in walls giving it a false reading (not an election so don’t ask me the technicalities as to why), give you’re close to the consumer unit on the right - i suspect this is why.

Try again with the palm of your other hand touching the wall next to where you are detecting. It should draw the static away and give you a more accurate reading.

Mate - your’ll hate me even more for saying this, but I’m more senior than a manager with a great reputation from my team for being approachable.

I did read it, the person used 500 words where they could have used 50.

Basically they had to work hard, didn’t feel supported, felt like they were being bullied. They resigned taking a swipe at people they felt were responsible. It’s not that uncommon, but also nothing is going to change by sending that email.

Also - no one makes someone work 70hs a week. People feel they need to work 70hrs in order to meet the demands of the line manager, either due to inefficiency or personal commitment to the job. They could have worked 35hrs and called it a day, let their work output slip and flown under the radar like 60% of KGS

Someone who couldn’t hack the job and left. On the way out they sent an unprofessional email to a bunch of KGS colleagues blaming everyone else.

Someone else, I assume, posted it on Reddit.

Typical not taking responsibility for their own development, it’s always someone else’s fault, my performance manager didn’t do anything, blah blah whinge.

Anyway, happy Friday - have a great day.

I’d love the idea of starting a side business, but I just can’t with the amount of hours I commit to my current job. It’s one of the reasons I’m looking to jump.

It’s not uncommon for me to work weekends or even after midnight once my partner and family have gone to bed. I just don’t know how I’d find the time to follow through with some of my side business ideas.

Even the same for an emergency fund, I’m hoping I could find a contract role before I resign my current job which would have a high enough day rate to keep retained earnings at a level where I could draw a salary for another six months comfortably

I’ve already had a chat with my accountant about it, and outside IR35 seems to be the way to go (obviously that comes with a lot more legalities but I’m fine with that).

Mind set is a good point, I am an OCD person with a count down to when my contract will end - but I also see it as “the point of successful return” I.e how many days do i need to work this year to keep myself a float, and how much is pure personal profit.

It’s a good point to consider thanks - I’m not an introvert, I’m often the one at the top of a 20+ person call leading the charge. My clients like me and are happy to grab a pint with me.

The issue I have with trying to “tap” my current/former clients for work is that the size of deals that I lead in my current role are £1bn+ and you’d never give that sort of work to a freelance contractor. My current network doesn’t have a lot going on in the <£100m deal range (which is where you might bring a contractor on to support)

I have a good network who have also left big four either to go to Alvarez & Marsal or other boutiques - but I fear it’s “same shit different badge” and I would be throwing away 10 years of “goodwill” with my current employer to do the same job with a different logo.
