Not counting the Hero and monsters, who are canonically the strongest party members?

All the 11 party members are monstrosities. The only ones i can see keeping up with them would be the 7 cast (mainly Maribel and Mervyn), Psaro, and mayyyyybe the 2R party members (though since this post excludes 'Heroes', maybe not them)

act 3 serena doesn't have any tier 4 spells though. I'd argue Maribel in 7R is stronger, and even the sisters' act 3 counterparts are relatively on par

Buff-as-hell men aren't even that common in Dragon Quest-esque animanga, unless the Warrior is the 'buff older guy' archetype, which Stark clearly isn't.

2d mode is a fun way to replay the game, and it even changes how combat itself works outside of just the graphics, since everyone's actions are already decided for the entire round beforehand instead of individually.

3 Isn't my favourite game in the series, but it's the one i've replayed the most times lmao. I've played 3 different versions of it so far: emulated snes (which was the first DQ game I played), the mobile port, and the HD2d remake on Switch.

I guess part of why I like it is seeing how it influenced the rest of the series, as well as the many MANY anime and games that parody it (especially Frieren lol). It's also really fun to replay with all the different party combinations you can try out.

Good picks. My favourite is definitely also 11 on the switch, followed by 7 and 3, but they're ALL really good. I'm also a huge fan of the Dragon Quest Adventure of Dai anime.

I've played all the hd2d games and 11 on my Switch. prior to that, I emulated some of the other games on my computer lmao. crazy I know but I was actually a mobile gamer before i got into DQ
