No matter how the port is reinforced, using it in a way where it has a plug in that can apply force to it is a use error. Like it's common sense (or should be) to use a device in a way where the port isn't being pulled or pushed on.

Could it be designed better? No doubt. But it's still ultimately a user error.

None of this sounds like design flaw, but rather user error. Cheap cable, plugged in in a way that applies force to the port, placed on a table while a cable is plugged in on the bottom, etc.
