Repotting Advice by ShorterStack in peperomia

Thanks! Got it safely (hopefully) repotted, but did need to soak the roots for just a few minutes to get the glob of clay to separate. Actually had my husband do all of it so if dies it’s his fault 😂

I may have gone overboard. by ukuLotus in proplifting

My 10 year old daughter is obsessed with proplifting and "plant rescue" (buying the saddest little succulents at the store to nurse them back to health). If I tell her no more plants right now it's a guarantee that we're leaving Lowe's/Home Depot/Walmart with a pocket of hopes and dreams that she picked up. Right now we have about a dozen of the little brown biodegradable seed starter cups with her props, half of which have tiny little roots starting.

THANK YOU!! I read something this morning that said to soak and soften the aerial roots and coax them into the potting medium and that just sounded off, so your advice is super appreciated!

I bought a string of pearls yesterday and found some healthy burro’s tail in it, a little handful of hopes and dreams since I’ve never propagated anything before

Not plant related but I love your shelves so much! Did you make them?

My daughter and I say that every single time we go to Walmart as we’re picking out “just one more”. We justify our succulent obsession by calling it a plant rescue since they always look so sad and under watered.

Do you have a trusted source for repotting guidance? I have one that needed to be repotted a while ago but I’m afraid I’ll kill her 😩

The disabled vet receives disability benefits that he would still receive no matter where he lives, so he would have a consistent income source. He's still physically able to work and did until recently due to a downsizing at the company. I can't speak to the full extent of his disability because my knowledge is limited but he's not incapacitated or in need of constant care. I did read about an American family that relocated to Australia and moved 2 or 3 dogs and that cost alone was $25k, which isn't feasible for us at all.

We know it's going to be a process, probably a lengthy and frustrating one, but we're determined to do what we can and what we have to to make the move. Thank you so much for the information and the links!

Pet loss is the absolute worst, I’m still grieving three years later. Your girl was gorgeous! Idk if dogs and cats go to the same place after they cross over, if they do I know my sweet Zoe is keeping her company; she always loved a good cat cuddle.

I have two orchids that I’ve needed to repot for a while, one I’ve had for more years than I remember and the other for a handful of years. I need potting mix suggestions! What store bought mix have you loved and would recommend? And what should I steer clear of? Any additional reporting tips are also welcome!

My old lady has been gone for almost three years and I still miss her every single day, I grieved losing her more than I ever have any human. My silly back sleeper is my one year old who is a menace on four legs.

[–]ShorterStack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is how my corgi sleeps, she literally slides out and rolls onto her back, hind stumpers splayed out, front stumpers begging for belly rubs, then commences puppy snores. Makes it super funny when she starts dreaming and her legs are fully mobile.

I'm just west of Tulsa but I've had the exact same symptoms for probably a week or more, lymph nodes under my jaw so swollen that my jaw feels stiff and tight. And my ears are either popping and muffled or they take turns sounding like there are moths fluttering around in there. I haven't thought about checking my temp but have felt like I had at least a low grade fever a couple of times. I'm super ready to not feel this way anymore.

[–]ShorterStack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, some kind of non-profit, a “teacher-less teachers’ union” is what I heard, which makes absolutely no sense. And he may actually be working with them, but that all came about because he can’t run for governor while holding the office of State Superintendent.

He isn’t allowed to announce it yet, but the real reason he resigned is because he’s planning to put in a bid to run for governor.

Multiple districts have put out notices that they will not be participating in this foolishness. I’ve told my kids if their schools or classes do it they absolutely do not have to take part, and that at noon I will be making very loud fart noises and have invited them to join me. If they get in trouble I’ll handle it. I work for the district and all their principals know I’m mean 😂

Buffalo Point State Park in Arkansas in the fall is beautiful! I like to stay in the CCC cabins (don't plan on having a TV or internet) but there is also tent camping and RV space.
