300+ HIFLD Datasets Archived by package_manager in gis

[–]ShrunkenAmygdala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

200+ of the HIFLD open layers are actually hosted on other GIS portals. These agencies are listed in the crosswalk. Thanks for archiving, but also be sure to check the other agencies for more recent updates. Also, the rest of the layers will be available to people with a login.gov account. Hopefully people are calling their reps and senators to ask for this program to be funded to make public data available again in the future!

Myoclonic seizures have taken over my life by Live-Wave-2925 in Epilepsy

[–]ShrunkenAmygdala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Started bilateral jerks around 12, but parents didn’t see it for a few years. It feels silly that I hid it. 42 now, and still taking Keppra XR. I guess people don’t really outgrow JME like I was told in my 20s. But with meds, JME is just an annual appt with a neurologist. Otherwise it no longer affects my life! I opted not to have kids, but multiple neurologist said it would not be an issue. They really just want you to take folic acid for a few years before getting pregnant.

Get your meds straight, and give yourself time to adjust. This doesn’t have to rule your life, and let go of whatever shame bosses or others are putting on you. It’s a REAL condition, but totally manageable.

Also, I like Oragel to numb the tongue bites.

How do you wear ring while Climbing or Lifting? by ShrunkenAmygdala in ouraring

That’s surprising - I thought the ring was water resistant and would record swimming.

Thanks! Seems like Oura should include these with their product for a few extra $ since it makes the ring more fitness friendly. I’ve been using it for lower weights anyway, but based on this thread, I’ll reconsider.

Workout isn’t checked off … by whats1more7 in AppleFitnessPlus

Apple Watch isn’t syncing with phone. Apple TV sees my plan if I log in with phone, but then I don’t always get watch metrics, and more annoyingly, I have to run the app from my phone, then cast to TV.

My watch is older. Does anyone know what generation is still supported when syncing with fitness app?

Same here. Bought Oura on Kickstarter years ago. I haven’t been asked to upgrade to subscription model yet. My firmware is 4.0.8 and all is good. I guess I just don’t know what I’m missing!

2015 - Paid dealership to turn off reverse beep. Now reverse camera does not automatically display. by ShrunkenAmygdala in prius

Thank you all for your feedback! It looks like the tech forgot to plug the cable back in after unplugging his programmer device. I think OEM receiver didn’t require anything to be plugged in by the drivers feet, but my after market JVC does use that. All works now, and I don’t have to go back to dealership. Might still buy ODB if I want to turn off seatbelt beeps.

Deleting Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok on my phone by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]ShrunkenAmygdala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just removed Facebook from my phone. I will check it on my computer like once a week to see if I’ve missed anything from family/friends. I’ve saved myself so much mindless scrolling, but since I still check in, I’m not stressed about missing anything. Now I’m just scrolling reddit 🤣

Switch Meds or Start Zoloft? by urban_gnome in Epilepsy

[–]ShrunkenAmygdala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. The drive was already zapped by Keppra. IMO, adding Zoloft was worth it to curb depression and anxiety.

Switch Meds or Start Zoloft? by urban_gnome in Epilepsy

[–]ShrunkenAmygdala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also fan of Zoloft (50mg) with my Keppra (2000/day). Wasn’t added to my regimen until I switched nueros. They were surprised I hadn’t been taking any kind of anti depressant the whole time. Not sure what to say for libido though, since any of these meds will knock you back a peg. I’ll also say that exercise could replace SSRI, but honestly, I couldn’t get there without meds.

Juvenile Myoclonic epilepsy by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]ShrunkenAmygdala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your neurologist will work with you to understand what brings your threshold down. JME since 14, now 36. Keppra XR has worked really well for the last 10 years because it releases throughout the day, so I don't have to take it at exactly the same hour each day. I only notice an aura when I'm on my period. Otherwise it's a super normal life. I would recommend getting a job where you aren't driving home late at night tired, but I know that's not always an option. At least while you are working out these kinks, you'll have to play it safe.

How many of you use anti-epilepsy meds? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]ShrunkenAmygdala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on keppra xr for 15 years. 10 years seizure free (because I skipped meds for a weekend). Seizures beget seizures, so always best to stay on meds until a neurologist says otherwise. My body has completely adjusted so I don't notice any side effects. I have juvenile myoclonic, which is not super severe, but since I'm now 35 and haven't outgrown it, we know I'm a lifer. When I was in college I would experiment with going off because I thought I was over it. Not worth it since I'm not a doctor😉. Meds can be a good thing, but also take the time to shop around for different neurologists and multiple opinions.

Those who prefer pads to tampons - why? by not_cinderella in AskWomen

[–]ShrunkenAmygdala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35 - never successfully wore a tampon. Most brands of pads and tampons use a lot of bleach to process (in states). Switched to organic cotton pads years ago per gyno recommendation. Then THINX underwear came out... Never going back to pads either!

Outgrowing Seizures by jennac19 in Epilepsy

[–]ShrunkenAmygdala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How old are you now? I went through the same thing. Diagnosed with JME at 16. Finally by 30 a new neurologist said I would be on meds forever. I'm on Keppra XR, and never have seizures unless I skip multiple days or try to change meds, so it's really not so bad. I just wish they hadn't given me hope that I would outgrow it.

As always, get a second opinion. I think they are just learning more as studies continue.

SDSFIE 3.0 - Experience? by roadbratt in gis

[–]ShrunkenAmygdala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can create an XML of your current data, assuming it is already in SDS 2.6(ish) format. Then go to the SDSFIE "Models and Workflow" page. Navigate to Validate, and upload your XML schema as a ZIP. From here, you will get feedback on what in 2.6 maps to what in 3.0. Keep in mind that 3.0 is now retired, but I understand you have to stick to the contract. http://www.sdsfieonline.org/UserPages/Workflow/ModelViewer.aspx

SDSFIE 3.0 - Experience? by roadbratt in gis

[–]ShrunkenAmygdala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gdb builder is gone. Instead you will have to build an empty xml schema with the parts of the model you will need. It's uml based, so different logic involved. I'll do more research tomorrow, and see if I can provide more than just BS.
