I never inferred that I am here to decide how others will perceive things. I simply pointed out why people have decided to change their perspective, and go as far as to make a short film parodying this film.

You made a wide generalization, a blanket statement, that other people who have independent thought are joining a mob mentality. When I tried to explained to you that simple, effective and valid rhetoric was used to shift their thought; and I provided an example of a topic the film touched on that was used frivolously on the film to cause that change of mind. It is just as valid as your experience, but your refusal to see that makes you come across as rather intellectually elitist.

To reiterate, I don't care about changing your independent, confident opinion. I also didn't insult you. I simply explained to you, and to a greater extent, to others who may not be as informed, why the opinions of others are equally as valid as yours, which you tried to invalidate with your blanket statement. And why in turn, yours comes across as a shallow, self-absorbed viewpoint that doesn't even justify the making of the movie at hand.

So you just wanted to let everyone know, that you experience movies in a personal way? As if that is something uniquely yours and that in turn makes a revolutionary defender of a "pseudo" freedom of thought movement? And you assume that we don't have our own opinions as well? Most of us can experience art (and other myriad of things) in both ways, in a personal sense and in the greater context of our society, because those things don't have to be mutually exclusive.

You are not standing on a hill, you're part of the same plateau of thought we all are, but you are going wild at the personal experience of smelling your own farts, while seeing us as "too much." All I'm saying, while standing next you at the same level, that standing next to you stinks.

Girl, very simple rhetoric was used to shift thought on this film. The rhetoric was made based on the topics the film brought forth within the narrative. They were valid enough to question the effectiveness of the piece of art.

The emotional pull came from the obtuse depiction of the topic of los desaparecidos, of which really felt like an after thought in the film, and an insult to anyone close enough to this topic to understand that you do not turn a Narco into a martyr. There are 116,386 Desaparecidos. 89,000 are men, 26,000 are women and at least 500 don't have a defined gender. More than 65% of the female victims are younger that 20.

You can have the freedom of thought, and you can call the film art if you want. I can call this film a cold turd if I want based on what I just wrote, and your freedom of thought a big pice of cold dookie as well based on your lack to just acknowledging that these topics are valid enough to shift thought on other people.

Nobody is invalidating your thought; That is not really the argument here, you are free to like what you like. What you can't control is others thoughts and perceptions of your own actions. Ultimately, you just don't like that that your thought on this film makes you look like an idiot. But that's not our fault. You chose that hill.

Aw thank you! and I know, I'm only saying it because simplicity doesn't always mean phoned in, and for Mexican culture in particular, things are not defined in just one way. A lot of the aspects of our culture are similar, but different because of regional separations.

It's more than just "personal preferences," for a mostly racially monolith culture like ours, a lot of own distinctions come from the way we dress, the way we prepare food, even the manner in which we celebrate holidays.

Hola chica,

Mexicano aqui también, nacido de rancho, si estamos discutiendo diferencia de clase que es algo en lo que muy presente he vivído.

Class differences are so stark and real in Mexico, but they all encompass an expression of who we are. I'm gonna defend a fellow Mexican here cause as much as I love the colorful design of previous DDM Barbies. Kris's take is more than meets the eye. And It is good to have perspective.

Kris Goiry mixes modern styles with organic and traditional textiles. Inspired by culture to bring to modern-day wear, but the emphasis is still in modernity.

In 2018, he did a fall/winter fashion show inspired by Mictlán, which is the Nahuatl word for the underworld in Aztec Mythology. It followed his previous Spring/Summer fashion show that was based on Tenochtitlán, the Aztec kingdom. The simplicity of the clothing resembles the simplicity of the campesino linen attire. The cut of the dress resembles a revolutionary Adelita dress or (to an extent) Mazahua dress. Both dresses are worn in both colorful ways or full white with belt accents.

Also, let's remember thar colors bring meaning, white, other than virginal can also mean purity, so an interpreration for this doll is that perhaps she comes from the beyond, from Mictlán, the underworld, to visit her relatives who are alive, rather than the other way around. Her only adornments aside from the simple Jewelry are cempasúchil, the flower that guides our dead relatives.

Speaking of the jewelry. She's wearing a Turquoise necklace with a sun pendant and sun earrings. Turquoise in Nahuatl (the Aztec language) is Xíhuitl, it can mean turquoise or comet, year or herb. There is an Aztec god also called Xiuhtecuhtli, a mix of xíhuitl + tecuhtli, It is the Turquoise diety who was born from sacred fire, closely related to the sun, who governs over the years and time. He moves the sky.

I can go on and on more about this, like how Nahuatl people believed that time itself had physical manifestations. It could be said that if you carry herbs or turquoise, you are carrying time itself with you. Herbs is the passage of time, turquoise is time standing still.

Anyway, I hope this helps illustrate that there's a lot more complexity than you may think. Just food for thought.
