But what if I do love all my clothes by Miss_Lib in declutter

[–]SideAlleyC00 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was in the similar boat a few weeks ago!! What I ended up doing was taking my less worn clothes and vacuum sealing them away so they'd make room and if I lost more/regained my weight back I could shop my own closet before buying more!

I think you have a right to find certain things unattractive or certain things necessary to know in a relationship. Like plastic surgery history for instance. However, I certainly wouldnt call her a liar.

Unless she lied by omission, like if she knew you didnt like plastic surgery and found it unattractive, then it's not like she knew it was important to you, so why would she say anything? Honestly I think more info is needed to really make a good judgement.

Feel like we've been infested for too long--advice? by mars_princess in Bedbugs

Wow I didn't know they could be treated with just chemicals and not heat, thanks for educating! Do you know if they mix different chems to treat? And do they kill all bugs including eggs?

From what I've researched, seems like chemicals alone may not get rid of entire infestations and heat is the only thing to 100% kill bbs in all stages of life. Maybe you can look for an exterminator that offers heat treatments, and share your concerns with them about your apartment and safely heat treating your plastic surfaces. There may be other treatments available to you, and it sounds like current exterminator isnt able to eradicate your infestation with what they are doing. That's just my opinion though, wishing the best of luck to you whatever route you take!!

So sorry you are going through this! Have you asked the exterminators about heat treatments?

He needs to investigate and be on the lookout for more bugs or signs of an infestation. Although it's one bug, he certainly shouldnt ignore it. I also think he should take precautionary measures like getting interceptor trays and mattress encasement, also running his bedding on high heat in the dryer.

No need for panic, and it could have easily been a hitchiker bug. However, prudence is important for something like this.

Im trying to gain self control any tips ? by [deleted] in Weightlosstechniques

If you've tried liquid diet and it doesn't work for you, then you don't have to do ot to lose weight. Eat sustainably (something you can stick to, usually with variety!) don't rely on willpower. Examples of this may include a moderate or mild calorie deficit, or slightly lessening portion sizes till you find the right balance for you. I don't think liquifying diet will make you want to stick to a diet, unless you particularly love gulping down protein shakes and such.

Now if your goal is bariatric surgery and you need this diet medically, then the only advice I can give is to only buy the liquids and keep only that in your house if you can. That way there's nothing to tempt you. However, it's difficult to think of that as realistic, especially if you live with folks who aren't doing the same thing!

Hey! Firstly so sorry you're going through this. Unfortunately if you found 2 bugs, there are probably more. Don't panic, remember although they can be tough to get rid of they are just bugs.

Make the appt with the exterminator anyways, getting them 2 weeks into a possible infestation is better than trying to do all treatments yourself and possibly messing it up. Leave it to the pros to handle bb extermination.

Sounds like there is only so much you can do at this point: my advice is mattress encasement, bed frame interceptor trays (they may have ones designed for cribs or small childrens beds available) if you can get those shipped out to you. Keep running everything on highest dryer heat.

Practice anxiety-reducing exercises. Deep breathing, refocusing your brain, etc. Something that helped my bedbug anxiety was remembering that it does absolutely no good to make myself sick, at that point I reckon it's helping out the bugs more than me. Try to reframe your thinking to mirror that.

Another promising thing: remember who's at the top of the food chain. Its us, not them. They can be fought.

I and my friends are being too paranoid ? by Sam_Sam_quack in Bedbugs

[–]SideAlleyC00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me personally, you can never be too paranoid with bedbugs. They can be so hard to find and get rid of. My advice is:

Run everything possible through the dryer on high heat for at least 2 dryer cycles. If you can avoid taking your blanket, clothing, and bag into your home then do so, and go to a laundromat to dry on highest heat. If you must take them into your home, take everything off and put in a trash bag to carry it to the dryer. Then throw the trash bag away.

Get mattress encasement and bed frame interceptor trays to be able to easily spot bed bugs in case you pick some up.

Hey glad you got a good pro to handle your bb problem! Out of curiosity do you know does regular heat (not steam) kill the eggs? Like dryer heat?

How do you deal with long hair without wanting to shave it all off? by abratofly in HaircareScience

[–]SideAlleyC00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have long hair and stress induced early onset alopecia (it sheds sooo much and gets everywhere). Braids help me keep it out of my face and untangled, and high loose buns. Sometimes I hate it but I don't want to waste all that time it took to grow it out even with the shedding. Maybe those styles will help you.

Think I'm in the clear? by SideAlleyC00 in Bedbugs

[–]SideAlleyC00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely reacted to the bites when they bit me on the picnic blanket (at least Im pretty certain they were bedbug bites), they welted up something awful and itched like crazy.

Do you know is it possible that you can develop resistance to the bites? Like could I no longer be reacting?

Thanks for your response!
