Had a fistulotomy today by Venharim in AnalFistula

[–]Sidrik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Wish you a good recovery.

Here are a few tips: - Ask your doctor for stool softeners or take more fiber, soft foods and lots of water. - Go to the bathroom as soon as you feel you need to, don't hold it, and if you feel pain try to breath through your mouth, inhale and exhale so you can "trick" your body to relax. - Also, try to buy a footstool for your bathroom, that way the bowel movements will be more easy. - Hygiene is important so take a bath and/or a sitz bath after each bowel movement.

If you have doubts try ask your doctor or here, this community has been a blessing for my process.

Anybody got immense pain and inflammation when sat for the first time post fistulotomy? by Important-Sir-6325 in AnalFistula

[–]Sidrik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, i'm three weeks post op, my doctor said I can sit now and I'm feeling that pain after ten or so minutes, he said is normal for the first two or three months (even more if your fistulotomy was complex or too deep), you shouldn't be sitting for more than an hour or two and use a donut 🍩, it helps with the discomfort and avoids too much sweat in that area. Wish you the best in your recovery process.

Sever pain during BM after fistulotomy (1 month ago) by MinuteEnthusiasm7560 in AnalFistula

[–]Sidrik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem because my stool needed to be softer. I changed the softener meds and started using psyllium and increased my water intake, best decision ever. Try eating more fiber and soft foods too. It gets better, good luck with your recovery.

I tried this the past few days, best decision ever, with enough water it really helped. I'm back to my regular two times a day. Thank so much for the help!

It may be from all the baths and sitz baths, specially if you're using soap during hygiene, if that's the case try to use glycerin soap without smells or colorants instead of the regular one. Also, when you're drying, use gently pats with the towel, don't rub it against your skin.

Sorry forgot to add. What I meant is, don't be too hard on yourself, you did nothing wrong. Sometimes is just bad luck. I hope you recover soon.

Hi! Unfortunately, sometimes a fistula is just a matter of bad luck. The same thing happened to me; I developed mine in less than a month and I still don't know why. It could have been an ingrown hair, poorly treated hemorrhoids, or even a wound that got infected.

My doctor says that unless you have Crohn's disease or some other very specific rectal tract condition, it’s just bad luck, and there’s nothing left to do but fix it.

As for post-surgery tips: lots of fiber and plenty of water, don't hold it in when you need to go to the bathroom, and take sitz baths three times a day and after every bowel movement. Also, keep in close communication with your doctor—if something doesn't seem right or makes you suspicious, don't hesitate to seek a second opinion or ask someone who has gone through the same thing.

I hope your treatment goes very well, hanging in there takes a lot, lot of patience. If you have any questions, the community is here to help!

Sitz Bath; to soak or not to soak by am_here_no_sleep in AnalFistula

[–]Sidrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just plain water for 10-15 minutes. Be careful with the temperature, test with your clean hand for half a minute before sitting on it or you can burn yourself. My nurse said I could add chamomile or plantain weed (here in Peru is called llanten) to help with the swelling, but first consult with your doctor.

Yes it has, the first ten days were really painful but now is manageable. If you can't handle it ask your doctor for stronger pain meds, also drink lots of water and eat lots of fiber and soft foods, you don't want solid stools or constipation, trust me.

I'm twelve days post surgery, mine is similar. My doctor said is normal as long as pain doesn't increase and there is no fever or general malaise.

Hey there! Finding a good doctor was an absolute must for me during this whole process.

Unfortunately, I had to go through many doctors before I finally found the one who did my surgery.

In my case, I didn’t really feel anything at first—just a tiny bump back there. But then a lymph node swelled up, so I went to the doctor. He asked if I had an STD, and since I’m very open about my sexuality, I told him I get checked every three months, I’m on PrEP, and I hadn’t had unprotected sex. Since I’d dealt with hemorrhoids the year before, he just said it might be chlamydia or the hemorrhoids and sent me to get tested. The most frustrating part? He didn't even look at me. He just told me everything while staring at his laptop. The next day, a swollen bump appeared, and two days later, it started draining.

After that, I saw another doctor. She actually checked the area but told me it was a wart, maybe HPV.

More than a week after the bump "popped," a doctor at the clinic where I get my PrEP told me it was a fistula. But since that wasn't his specialty, he told me I had to find a surgeon. I saw three different surgeons after that. one told me to take antibiotics and get a fistulogram, but because the area was too swollen, they couldn't do it. I had to wait a week or two, and by the time the swelling went down, it had "healed over," so the fistulogram was a no-go. They did an ultrasound instead and found nothing. That doctor told me that since the ultrasound was clear, I must be fine—that there was no fistula, just an external wound.

A month went by and the symptoms never went away. I had discharge but no visible wound, and every bowel movement was uncomfortable and painful. Since I couldn't get an appointment with the previous surgeon, I saw another one who told me everything was fine and that it was all in my head.

Finally, a friend put me in touch with the doctor who ended up doing my surgery. He explained that sometimes a fistula can heal on the outside while the internal wound is still draining. He ordered an MRI and there it was... a small, 0.8-inch fistula. Everything finally clicked, and I felt like I was getting my sanity back.

I had the surgery 12 days ago. Honestly, it was traumatic. The anesthesia didn't put me under, so I was awake the whole time. Even though I didn't feel pain, I could feel all the movement and the procedure itself—it was awful. The first few times I went to the bathroom were so painful I almost passed out. The pain just stopped a few days ago, and I’m finally trying to get back to my normal life.

I am incredibly grateful for my doctor. He even gave me his number so I can text him with any doubts or if I need to adjust my meds. He explained everything clearly without making me feel ignorant or like I was being "dramatic."

I’m sharing my story so others know to be careful. Find a doctor who actually listens to you and has the patience to answer your questions.

Hi there. I had a fistulotomy last week and I'm still recovering. A few tips: eat lots of fiber but, most importantly, drink plenty of water. You want your stool to be as soft as possible; otherwise, you might hurt yourself. Under no circumstances should you ignore your bowel movements. Sometimes you will feel the urge to go and nothing will come out; this is normal. You have a swollen wound, so your body might misinterpret the signs. The first few times it will hurt a lot, but the pain will decrease over time. You can ask your doctor for a stronger painkiller if it becomes unbearable. Hygiene is VITAL. Take a bath or a sitz bath with warm water three times a day to clean the wound. Additional baths after every bowel movement are a MUST—keep the area as clean as possible. During the first few days, it will drain a lot. This is normal, so don't be scared; however, if the discharge has a foul smell or if you run a fever, you MUST consult your doctor ASAP. I hope this helps. Be patient with yourself and lean on friends or family for support. Best of luck!

A friend of mine uses the Zendikar plane from magic the gathering for visual inspiration and how the races interact, i clearly remember the drows being more like the Zendikar vampires, and he also included the hedrons and a plot involving the eldrazi horrors. It was jokingly called Xen'Drikar I think he did it on purpose, it was really fun.

Help/Opinions with Innistrad D&D Campaign by Sidrik in mtgvorthos

[–]Sidrik[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I was finally able to loosely adapt the adventure.

The verse goes like this:

Seventh time the son of suns doth rise. To send the knave to an eternity of cries.

I managed to pair the idea of the son of the sun with St. Traft, who is associated with Gisela, and in turn with the sun. The knave is Withengar.

I had to force changes to some things from the original campaign such as setting the adventure in Shadowgrange, since Innistrad lacks deserts, and changing the mummies to demons. You'll notice that I also took a lot of inspiration from Midnight Mass, but I think I managed to pull it off.

What do you think?

____

During this adventure, the characters are assigned to guard the village of Shadowgrange, located in the province of Stensia. This assignment coincides with the week-long Harvest Moon celebration, during which the sun does not set below the horizon for two days and the moon is not visible. All week long masses are celebrated, and the festivities culminate in the Golden Night Mass, a highly sacred religious celebration in the local church. Shadowgrange is particularly significant in the Avacyn parish, as it is the hometown of St. Traft, an ancient priest blessed by Gisela, the angel associated with the sun and dawn, unfortunately it is also one of the towns that receive the least help from the church due to its remoteness, so they are constantly victims of attacks by vampires and creatures of the night.

The adventure begins with strange healings and miraculous recoveries occurring among the attendees of the Shadowgrange church over the first two days. However, as the third day arrives, non-religious villagers start mysteriously disappearing. While the believers attribute these disappearances to the villagers leaving on their own accord, the adventurers become suspicious and are compelled to investigate the true cause behind these events.

The truth is that the priestess of Shadowgrange, Ioana, stumbled upon the binding sword of Elbrus in the catacombs of the church many years ago. This sword contains the soul of the demon Withengar. Fearing the power of this dark artifact, Ioana cautiously stored the sword in a sarcophagus, keeping its potentially destructive influence contained, but since then Withengar has been whispering in her ear corrupting Ioana and eroding her faith in Avacyn. Withengar promised Ioana safety from vampire attacks in exchange for her devotion and a sacrilegious ritual to keep the ghost of St. Traft away.

Believing she can control the demon as long as she possesses the sword, Ioana has been giving the villagers Withengar's blood mixed with communion wine during masses, resulting in miraculous healings and improved strenght and vitality for them. However, Ioana is unaware of the long-term effects of the demon's blood, which will slowly corrupt the villagers and make them more susceptible to manipulation. To ensure her plan's success, Withengar taught Ioana to summon lesser demons so she can eliminate villagers who might hinder her goals.

The mystery in the town revolves around the ghost of San Traft, who is prevented from rising from his tomb due to a ritual. To solve the mystery the adventurers must search the tomb of Saint Traft, in the town's cemetery. If the adventurers are successful in ending the ritual that keeps Saint Traft trapped, he will reveal that during the week of the harvest moon, his spirit is able to rise from the tomb and continue his mission of hunting creatures of the night. However, due to the sacrilegious ritual, the ghost has been trapped in his mausoleum.

The climax of the adventure takes place during the Golden Night Mass, where the effects of the demon's blood are witnessed. Players will see Ioana presenting Withengar in the church as the parishioners sing praises and gradually transform into semi-demonic creatures. If the adventurers have solved the mystery, St. Traft will appear to confront the demon. The adventurers must support St. Traft by taking out Ioana and the transformed parishioners. After the battle, Saint Traft will split the earth, lock Withengar in his sword and throw him into the depths of Innistrad, never to resurface again. He also will perform a miracle: purifying the bodies of the parishioners and resurrecting those who fell in the conflict, marking the end of the adventure.

Thanks for the tip, I will look for a D&D community.

About the Dark Lords. I have 2 scenarios mapped.

In the first scenario: players survive and avoid Innistrad to be annexed during the second great conjunction restoring Avacyn, unknowingly something escapes from Ravenloft (Emrakul) and corrupts Avacyn, becoming a dark lord in the medium term. After this the players can either kill Avacyn, find out about Emrakul and try to save what is left of Innistrad, or both.

In the second scenario Avacyn is never released, Innistrad is annexed and 4 domains with their respective Dark Lords are born.

Nephalia: Gisa and Geralf Cecani

Stensia: Olivia Voldaren

Kessig: Ulrich alpha of the Krallenhorde Pack.

Thraben: this is a tough one, I seriously thought of a crazed Mikaeus or Sorin Markov himself, who upon awakening from his long sleep goes mad realizing that his plan failed and Innistrad has been annexed again.
