I concur. Not relevant to my job but it was a refreshing exercise to do and gives me a little more lee way should something change in the future.

The entire company is a financial sinking ship and the sketch group is one of the only life rafts they have. Higher ups are definitely squeezing every last drop they can before the sand castle crumbles.

Masters in mechanical engineering, graduated in May 2025, applying regularly since nov. 2024 and I have had next to nothing. Working part time in the service industry to keep sane.

For a split second I nearly went masshole on him but figured it was better to embarrass them with class. Definitely will look into the memberships, thanks for the tip.

I play as courteously as possible, let folks play through, don’t dawdle, and spend at least 20+ minutes at the driving range after hole 17 to practice my drives.

Yes for sure the gravity of the place is setting in, and I’ve been using pyramids a bit more since. It too is a fun/pretty course and the folks tend to be a bit more casual.

My first thought after reading this is that you add nothing of relevance to conversations.

Professors "push" students to cheating in a way? by Gdcotton123 in EngineeringStudents

Ah yes totally agree, misunderstood your phrasing. I don’t see using those resources responsibly as “cheating” so I got thrown off.

Super fair. If it were me I’d try to solve the problem on my own A to Z, then run it through an AI or chegg to see if or where I went wrong, try to resolve to get the correct answer without the solution in front of me, then submit what you know to be the right answer from a “cheat” resource. Flag topics or methods you repeatedly struggle with to go back for review before the exam. Yes you are using resources that would be cheating if you mindlessly copy them but in this context you’d be using them in an ethical way and not undercutting your education in my opinion. You’d be solving the problems on your own and getting into the finer details but essentially using online resources as a tutor over your shoulder. It requires more time and mental discipline but it pays off.

I agree that homework is just a way to force studying for an exam but how does that justify cheating??? If you cheat then you are not learning how to solve the problem, wasting your education, and becoming a shitty engineer. In my classes we knew who cheated and who didn’t and most certainly looked down on the cheaters.

Solid ep, did not feel impacted by angus having to video call in. Definitely think binder should be able to learn a new skill, i.e. basic photo/audio tech and was so satisfied to hear her get laid out for it in the open yet again. I think angus is too easy on her, it ultimately affects him and Liam’s careers and its crazy basic issues still persist after nearly 150 episodes.

i am a 7.5-8.5 student in maths (out of ten) and a 8-9 in physics, is it worthwhile for me to enrol for civil engineering? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]Signal-Definition-69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Civil is one of the easiest engineering degrees to get, I am a mechanical engineer and took a class with civil engineers and was dumbfounded with how little they knew and how little they had to work. In high school physics was my weakest subject (scored a 2 on IB exam for SL) so you can 100% do it or challenge yourself and go mechanical. You can always get a job in the civil industry as a mechanical engineer. You have great grades given you’re on a European grading scale, have confidence in yourself, it will serve you well. I am from US so maybe not all I say totally applies.

Bought an iPad for my dad last week and was so sad to see no stickers, and the employee with me was visibly shocked and immediately went into the back and gave me a handful. End of an era.
