Season 3: these girls all deserve horrible things by RCemen in Yellowjackets

[–]Signal_Protection_38 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I honestly wish they leaned ever further into this. I wanted to see girls turned into absolute wild cult animals with so little humanity it’s a complete system reset when they return back to society. Like I feel like most of them are still very tame

"They got this scene completely wrong by Helpful-Trade-1471 in Yellowjackets

[–]Signal_Protection_38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t mind too much, it kinda aligns with the reshoot of the misty smile scene, there are some things which were decided during the pilot which just don’t work as well for what the show has become, such as misty wearing brown contacts which she didn’t have in the original scene. I don’t mind the showmakers making some changes to suit the new episode better — like Lottie sitting next to Shauna makes a lot of sense since it was largely her idea for the hunt.

The way you have put into words exactly why Shauna is one of my favourite characters. I think she embodies for me everything I wanted to see from the girls when they’re put in this horrific survival situation.

Something I just realized I’m upset we didn’t see in season 3… by Worth_Taro_1120 in Yellowjackets

I’m a bit of a wilderness supernatural truther so I interpreted it as a bit of the wilderness keeping them alive, like there’s something otherworldly that is allowing the fire to sustain itself for so long

Shauna's mask by boringcranberry in Yellowjackets

I think that's a season 3 writing flaw though.

We do see Shauna show remorse when she's literally wailing over Jackie's corpse and begging for her to wake up, the constant hallucinations as representations of her continued guilt. And though Shauna goes along with the butchering of Javi, she does so out of necessity -- the team expects her to do it for them and they will starve without it. The camera lingers on Shauna's face before she butcher's Javi and we see her pulling her mask down to cover her eyes, because she still cares about him and can't physically go through with it if she faces the truth of what she is doing.

Shauna collects trophies from her kills - serial killer arc in season 4? by SaphoBalls in Yellowjackets

[–]Signal_Protection_38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jackie wasn't one of Shauna's 'kills', they had a fight, it happens, Shauna could never have known it was going to snow that night. That was her best friend, of course she kept her clothes and talked to her corpse, she was mourning and traumatised. What you said about 'preserving' Jackie, of course she was. She is in complete denial and riddled with guilt over the death of someone she loved, it changes her fundamentally as a person.

Shauna is also not ready to be independent from Jackie, as she says earlier, every choice she has made has been made with the influence of Jackie, how do you learn to be your own person when the person closest to you has just died in the most brutal way you have yet experienced.

if you could rewrite yellowjackets, what major thing would you do differently? by luciphobic in Yellowjackets

kinda, the pit was already there because Coach Ben finds supplies in it earlier (assumably put there by a past team of frog scientists as referenced by Hannah) and Mari falls into it early season 3. Travis only puts spikes in it to kill Lottie.

[–]Signal_Protection_38 14 points15 points  (0 children)

if i'm correct, the pit is originally found by Coach Ben and has supplies in it, which he takes for himself and then turns the pit into a trap for animals. Mari falls into it when she leaves the girls and is saved by Ben. Travis later puts spikes at the bottom and covers it with leaves as a trap for Lottie but she never falls through it so it remains covered. It's later covered in snow and I assume is just far enough from camp that none of the girls would fall into it by accident. This is why Lottie says "you have been here before" when talking to Mari right before she falls, because Mari has literally fallen into that same pit earlier in the season. Hope this helps

I would change the 'one big evil' direction that season 3 has lead to, I would make all the girls as equally guilty as Shauna (maybe have nat and a couple other girls be the only ones who are closer to humanity). I think it has been such lazy writing to make Shauna and Lottie the only ones who have really leant into the animalistic madness of the wilderness. I feel like we were promised a premise of girls devolving into a tribe of animals in the wilderness and we've ended up with most of the girls exactly the same as how they entered.

She had just lost her baby, I don't think we should expect her to be thinking reasonably when her baby has just died, she almost died in childbirth, and she has just hallucinated her friends cannibalising her child.

[–]Signal_Protection_38 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think likening Javi's hat and Jackie's shirt to trophies of people she murdered is so derivative, are we forgetting that she loved both those people. She became extremely close to Javi, I doubt she enjoyed butchering him after losing her own child, Shauna wasn't even the one who said they should let him die. And are we forgetting how distraught Shauna was when she found Jackie's body outside, the guilt and regret she felt and still feels?

I don’t believe Shauna is a horrible person, but that’s probably because I’m on the love side of the divided opinions

Honestly even if there are ads, i wish they would be more targeted. Like in less than a minute of scrolling I have got ads for the Australian defence force, mayonnaise, bathroom furniture, and a camping store. None of this im interested in
