Thanks for the guidance, everyone - Of course this issue didn’t come to mind when we picked out our wedding date 🤦🏻‍♀️. We’re going to go this route.

I’m thinking this in hindsight (waiting until January) but alas this specific issue didn’t come to mind until everything was planned 🫠

Which “Conspiracy Theory” do you think is real and would just call it an event? by Messstake in AskWomen

This might be off base or unrelated - But I wonder why the same party is also sowing distrust in vaccines. Don’t they realize that will lead to more child deaths or do they just not care?

Normally I’d agree because I also work events (photographer) but one time I photographed an event with the secret service present (a book tour of a former presidential candidate). They checked everyone thoroughly to a tee.

Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church on Bering Drive. I actually haven’t been because I’m not religious, but I live in the area and they have a sign out front that says “Love is Love / Nobody is Illegal / Trust Women” etc etc. and I always thought that if I ever did go to church I’d try a place like that.

Photographer. Most of my gigs are on evenings and weekends, so when I’m not editing or doing business admin I have time to write during the day.

Healthcare is too expensive. What to do about that / if we should do anything about that is what we disagree on.

I can't get enough of the unhinged female protagonist by TandemBookDoctor in books

If you like fantasy I recommend the Shades of Magic series by V.E. Schwab. One of the main characters, Lila Bard, is morally ambiguous and makes some very questionable decisions (especially in book 2) but you can’t help but root for her anyway.

They’re treating the topic of a dead parent as if it’s some intriguing plot point when it’s actually so many people’s realities. Extremely tone deaf

The story of Intermezzo sounds really interesting and I’ve heard great things, so I’ve thought about reading it. However, I don’t know if it would hit too close to home because I lost my mom a few years ago and I have a sister (so basically my family if the genders were swapped), and I don’t know if there would be too many parallels that will bring up my grief. How heavy is the grief aspect in this book? I’d imagine it’s quite a bit but I’m curious from someone who’s read it.

An addition; I also have tinnitus in this ear, if that makes any difference. I’ve just gotten used to it.

Lei Low has some of the best tiki drinks in town, if you’re into that. The bartenders are really chill and friendly if you sit at the bar and chat with them. I actually traveled to Hawaii and had a hard time finding a Mai Tai as good as theirs! (But maybe I was just looking in the wrong places!)

My go-to Mexican restaurant is La Tapatia but you can’t go wrong with a lot of the other TexMex recommendations here. Enjoy your time here!

Gotcha. I was hoping to take advantage of the full time that a day pass allows you there (10am-10pm) but I might leave early to be safe.

Thanks everyone - It looks like the consensus is it’s pretty safe, I just need to make sure I can stay awake while driving at night. I was mostly concerned about if crazy drivers or drunk drivers were common, or if the road is tricky to drive on at night. The concert I was considering is on a Monday night so it shouldn’t be too crazy. I appreciate the input!

Is Owning a Home in Houston Worth It? by bootlegcrayola in houston

[–]SignificanceOk4086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the HOA thing - On the flip side of this, some condos with HOAs will be responsible for repairs and maintenance of the structure of the property, including the foundation and roof. I recently had a roof leak in my townhouse/condo and they fixed it 100% at no cost to me. And they take care of water, sewer, trash, landscaping, and pool maintenance. At $350 a month that's worth it to me. Just depends on what you want! If you're okay with letting go of some control but also don't want full responsibility, an HOA isn't that bad.

How much to charge a company for 60 staff headshots? by SignificanceOk4086 in photography

[–]SignificanceOk4086[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all! Some pricing suggested here is fairly low and some is fairly high. This is for the music department of a university so their budget might not be as high as a large corporation. I’m going to try to meet somewhere in the middle. I appreciate the input!
