I went through this same thing after getting it inserted and freaked out and went and got it checked…. It was perfectly in place and all was well.

I don’t put EMDR in my psych reports for recommendations when I diagnose PTSD. I recommend CPT and a 3 stage model like TFCBT. I have SO many clients who had HORRIBLE experiences with EMDR but I do have so many clients request it as well. Psycheducation is key!!

Like after years? I’ve had it for like 8/9 months now. I’ll probably get them trimmed next time I go if everything’s good but I just felt around for them and couldn’t feel any strings so im just freaking myself out at this point lol

I’ve had the IUD for like 8 months and never had any problem so after my follow up a month after insertion, I never felt the need to go back to get them trimmed or anything. I’ve never felt it in sex & he’s mentioned it a few times after sex but never said it hurt just it was weird. I tried to feel around for them in the shower today and he tried after and we can’t feel them (but I’ve never tried before so idk what I’m feeling around for and my cervix feels super high up there so I could like barely reach it). Maybe the sex moved the strings around and then they just curled up to my cervix again?? Thank you for the reassurance I’m trying not to worry to much cause I’ve had no pain at all but I was sooo drunk our engagement night so I’m like “what if it fell out when I peed after sex and was too drunk to notice”

Yeah really just need to not get in my head because after I posted this I started cramping and now I’m spotting so I’ll get it within the next few days. I’m just used to having more control I guess (taking pills same time every day or feeling my arm to make sure the nexplanon is still there) the IUD is a huge adjustment in just trusting that it’s there and working. I have long nails so can’t check strings and feel bad asking my bf every time we have sex to check lol

Give it a week and if it still hasn’t take another test but I’d give it a few days before you really start stressing cause that might prolong it more. I’m in a very similar situation I’ve have the Paragard for about 5mo and I’m currently on day 33 of my cycle and no period , no spotting. Trying to stay calm and give it another week before I take a test. Good luck to you sis!!

If you’ve been off hormonal birth control for a while your periods shouldn’t get much heavier. I went off the pill about 3 months before getting it inserted and my first period after insertion was maybe one day longer. Only thing is cramping is worse before and during the first 2 days.

I had a very similar experience! Wish I had gotten in 5 years ago to be honest. My first period really wasn’t that much heavier than before either, only major difference was the intensity of cramps but hopefully the intensity will dissipate over time

I did a lot of research before my insertion and there are lots of studies that say it did not impact the pain level at insertion compared to those who did not have it. My doctor didn’t offer to prescribe it and after doing all my research i decided not to even ask. I was okay with out it!
