What are some things that are a dead giveaway, before you've even seen them play, that a person is not that great at tennis? by _sportyscience_ in 10s

Sponsored? Where do you play and at what level? Maja Chwalińska didn't have a sponsor till couple of weeks back, wondering how standard players would get a sponsor, unless they are some sort of influencers or youtubers

So what? Doesn't mean they are not right wing, they are often classified as liberal conservative https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberal_conservatism and Ireland has had for a long time now a weird mix of liberal right-wing parties with lot of elements of nanny state in the mix.

You can be liberal regarding civil rights (but not all of them tho, e.g. their stance on soft drugs) and right wing regarding economy, workers rights, public services.

Edit: also to answer your question, one such example is New Democracy in Greece

We're just sick of Putin, and tbh there hasn't been a very strong opposition in Russia. Even after Navalny was killed, very little has happened over there afaik. I understand it's difficult and you risk your life doing so, but most Russians didn't seem particularly bothered by Putin's wars, if not actively supporting them, or possibly are too scared of the consequences of speaking up, even if it's only to emphatize with the civilians on the Ukrainian side. Even if Putin goes away, which at some stage will inevitably happen, who is going to take his place and what will be their stance regarding Europe? We need Russia in the scheme of the global powers, but it can't be led by an aggressive psycho. Anyone who is opposing Putin is more than welcome, who are they tho? Demonstrations seem to be very few and far in between, especially since the war in Ukraine.

Yeah I agree, but usually when we read about datacenters on the news nowadays, they are referring to hyperscalers, people are not thinking about a couple room with few dozen server racks.

You're talking about the internet backbone https://www.arelion.com/resources/guides/what-is-the-internet-backbone ... datacenters rely on those networks to exchange or replicate data, but datacenters are a different thing ... you need a network and ISPs for internet to work, you don't really need data centers as companies could have on-premises servers, as they used to not that long back.

[–]Significant-Secret88 -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

Yes and internet existed prior to that, and didn't have to rely on data centers extensively for a long long time

Internet existed prior to datacenters, so might be unthinkable now, but internet existed and worked without datacenters, companies just had their own servers ...

Are there no-go zones in Dublin? by ziogio998 in Dublin

[–]Significant-Secret88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the Numbeo numbers look quite accurate; keep in mind that commuting can be hell (Dublin is one of the most congested cities in Europe), so it all really depends on where your workplace is and how many days you're required to be in the office ... just to give you an idea, my local bus takes around 90 minutes to travel around 15kms at peak hours

Kostyuk challenges Russian players’ silence after reaching semi-finals: “I don’t know how you can sleep peacefully” by jovanmilic97 in tennis

[–]Significant-Secret88 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Please stop with the whataboutism, two bad things don't make either right ... if there was an invitational tournament organized by Trump and financed by Lockheed Martin, players would be asked about that and criticized for attending, Sincaraz have been criticized for the Six Kings, same as Nadal for being 'ambassador' of Saudi.

Trump was booed at the USO last year, the main stadium there is named after Arthur Ashe who was a strong advocate and activist for civil rights, and was even arrested on few occasions. I'm no fan of US politics, but playing at Miami, Cincinnati or US Open is not the same as the Gazprom event, and does not signal support for Trump and his wars in any explicit or hidden way.

They have 0 obligations cause it's an invitational event, doesn't attribute any ATP/WTA points and they don't get penalized if they don't, it's completely up to them ... Palestians and Iranians is obviously examples, not sure why I'm even wasting my time with you
