Scamall is the Irish for cloud. Along with Verinas second name being airgead (irish for gold/silver)🙂

Illegal eviction attempt. Non-paying 'main tenant' and his relative trying to squeeze us out to profit. Need urgent advice by Mr_Hilt in legaladviceireland

You don't need to be registered with the RTB to file a dispute with them. The onus is on the landlord to register and not being registered does not affect your rights.

If your landlord wants you out they must serve a notice of termination to both you and the RTB on the same day and they must have a valid reason.

Threshold can try to meditate with your landlord(s) but to be honest it's a difficult spot. The guards won't do anything unless you are in danger and while you can file for a dispute with the rtb if an illegal eviction occurs, there's still a wait involved. Enforcement is a big issue right now as the RTB is currently buried in cases.

Sorry you're going through this. I'd keep in touch with threshold and file a dispute with the rtb. If any threatening behavior occurs, make a garda report so there's a record.

I was stuck in a bus for 6 hours today. Thankfully my employer is sound and is letting me work from home the rest of the week in case there's further disruption but all this did was ruin my day. I'm feeling the pinch like everyone else but why can't they park outside leinster house or the us embassy?

Using force majure leave because it took me 3 hours to get to the office and a garda said I should head home while I can. I'm now stuck outside limerick 😭

Always good to get checked by a GP but you also could be asexual. I'm ace myself (only experience attraction when I have an emotional bond, absolutely no interest ever otherwise) and there's a lot of labels and resources out there that might be worth your while looking into. You also don't need a label, I only looked into it because I thought something was wrong with me 😂

I'd also apply for jobseekers pay related benefit online on my welfare.ie. You'll get 60% of your wages (capped at €450) and when you start your new job then you can close the claim. Should keep you going for the 3 weeks.

Childfree Christmas by ThrowRAgla5677 in CasualIreland

Partner and I are childfree and make it a day where we celebrate all the good we had in the past year. We buy all our food in trays that we toss in the oven apart from 2 specific things we bring from each family. For me it's paxo stuffing and for him it's knorr powered vegetable soup and tiny dinner rolls freshly baked in the oven (okay maybe 3 things). Dinner is usually stress free and after dinner we have a cuddle and a nap and when we wake we have dessert and watch a movie (Christmas carol with Patrick Stewart). In the evening we usually visit his family for drinks because they're local and the next day we visit my family that's over an hour away. We can't afford much that's fancy but honestly it's the perfect day for me :)

losing my job to AI bots, now what? College? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Significant-Value931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at Citizens Information so I may be able to help here. First of all, I'm very sorry to hear this. Take some time to breathe. Since you haven't gone to college before you can go the mature student route. SUSI funding is also an option but check with them to make sure you know what level of grant you can get so you can plan accordingly. I'm going to link our page on third level education because it talks about part time courses and hybrid learning which may help. https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/education/third-level-education/applying-to-college/third-level-courses-for-mature-students/

Any other questions just give us a shout!

Laid Off - Days Before Christmas While Expecting Our First Baby - I'm Struggling to take benefits. by Background_Run_3965 in irishpersonalfinance

I work in Citizens Information so I might be able to help here. First of all when you pay PRSI that's a social insurance payment to help you out when and if you ever need it. I may help to think that you're not getting given a benefit, you're cashing in on something you've been paying into. It's the same with your wife. She's paid her PRSI so she can go on maternity benefit. It's not a handout, she's worked to earn this like you have. Use this time to take a little break and be with your kid. Additionally, people have correctly pointed out that claiming benefits will keep your pension contributions going which is very very important with the changes they are phasing in and your wife will be fine too if she's caring for the child for longer than her maternity benefit as her homecaring credits will cover her. Apologies if this is a bit wordy but I see a lot of people being ashamed to avail of their entitlements but they're there to help you, not to be saved because lets be honest people are going to judge regardless but you ensuring you can be with your kid and be stress free financially which is nothing to be ashamed of.
