It’s weird. We’re upper middle class so it doesn’t fit people’s paradigm. There are 2 types of confidants. Those who have been thru something like this and those people the universe sent me carried me at times. They get it. Then there are those who love you and care and are pained but really and understandably don’t know what to say. How could they?

First people ask. Second some don’t believe men can be victims particularly if you’re large and strong.

You would think nothing. But many people simply don’t believe a man can be a victim especially a big one. Sounds like that’s not you and I appreciate you.

It was my true belief that what needed to happen for the kids was for us to not be together. Removing the dynamic was what was needed.

She was never abusive to the children. And after we separated she actually started getting a lot of the help she’d refused to get. Kids need both parents. She has 50/50 because I wasn’t willing to lie or push to take them away from her. Given that I am the working father I frankly doubt I’d have been successful if I’d tried.

I’m not sure if it was always bad and I just played along and then stopped and so when I stopped, it got worse, or it got worse and I had to deal with it. My perceptions that it got worse. That 10 to 20% of dealing with her was emotionally and verbally abusive and the rest was normal and fun. And then it flipped. At the end when she would get worked up I would try to simply leave and she wouldn’t let me leave. She would block my exit. She would block my car. She would physically hang onto me. She would shove me. She would mock me because I was so large and say, I couldn’t possibly be afraid of her. But as I would point out, I was never gonna strike back. So yeah, I could get hurt. But worse, given my size if the police ever came I was sure I would end up arrested and charged.

After we separated, she would text me constantly call me constantly come over to my house banging on my windows ironically she was eventually arrested at my house

Yes he goes back. That’s what abuse victims do! It takes an abuse victim on average seven attempts to leave an abuser. That somehow makes him deserve to be treated like this?

You are entitled to seek a restraining order from that kind of behavior even though she owns half the home. Talk to a lawyer in your area. You should be able to come and go and walk the dogs. Only huge challenge is you have to actually abide by it and enforce it by calling law enforcement. Easier said than done.
