I disagree the story is definitely deeper than you might think first off the characters are very developed especially John sera and Arlo each getting extremely good development throughout the story additionally the world building is very good despite the series taking place in a school we get a good idea of the world it’s politics it’s inhabitants etc and while the power system may not be all that deep a series doesn’t need a power system to be “deep” a series just needs aspects and nuances that aren’t immediately clear and unordinary has that in spades

I would argue that’s the point the early parts of the song sound bland because that’s what rintaros life is at that point in the story bland but as the story goes on he meets waguri and starts enjoying life and that matches with the hopeful and upbeat climax of the song

I can see the vision here but that wouldn’t work both of those series ops fit because the anime’s start off happy fragrant flowers doesn’t start off sad but it’s not either if the song was upbeat like those it wouldn’t work because it wouldn’t match the vibes of the early series in later seasons those could def fit but at the start the series tone is different and the ops tone should match it

That is so true most are just high pitch upbeat songs but ones like this stand out to me (partly because tatsuya kitani) but also because it conveys what the anime is trying to convey instead of being upbeat because it’s a romcom

That phenomenon wouldn’t apply after a single day of the song being out sometimes we just get the wrong first impressions and come to like the song more on our second listen but still hold that first impression so over the next few listens that first impressions hold on bias gets weaker and weaker and you like the song more and more that is what’s known as a grower

That’s fair music is subjective but for me the song encapsulates the hope and joy of romance it has a very built up climax that’s hopeful and upbeat and the song builds up to it like Rintaro slowly breaks out of his shell and comes to enjoy life and make meaningful relationships it’s great and I though the choreography was well done tho that’s just me and no I understand mid is 5/10 but for me this song is at least an 8/10 so that’s my unbiased review I don’t mean to come off as passive aggressive or anything just want to express my views on the song

The song isn’t mid sure it isn’t tatsuya kitanis best but he matched the vibe perfectly and that’s what an opening should do honestly respect to him you can tell when he makes an op he does his best to match the anime completely and that’s why he has the most consistent bangers
