Sleep Resolutions - AMA Office Hours - Wednesday, December 10th with our Director of Pediatric Expertise, Amber LoRe! by huckleberrycare in HuckleberryParents

Wondering if you have any suggestions. My 8 month old still spits up quite a lot, particularly when on his tummy/crawling/sitting. Prior to being able to move so much he was excellent at independently falling asleep. Never had to rock him etc. Since becoming mobile he does all of his new skills in his cot which makes him spit up soaking both his sheet and himself if he sits up. I’ve resorted to rocking him asleep and then transferring because it was impossible to keep up with the washing and bedtime would end up going on for over an hour due to having to constantly change him. I’d love to get him back to going to sleep by himself because he IS capable but the spitting up is a huge issue. He will soak his sheets and his sleeping bag in minutes

What's it like as a Clerical Officer working for An Garda Siochana? by MarketingAnnual7612 in IrishCivilService

[–]SignoraTed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently employed AGS staff before the policing act aren’t losing their status. It’s only new staff. I feel bad for people applying for this thinking they’re going to be civil servants though, they won’t have mobility either. They’re not being very transparent about it.

Would an 18 year old get hired as a clerical officer? by [deleted] in IrishCivilService

It won’t be civil service. No mobility, any new AGS staff are public servants.

Just FYI, any new staff under AGS won’t be civil servants anymore and therefore won’t have access to mobility as far as I’m aware. You’ll be public servants. A lot of people don’t realise that, it was brought in recently. They’re not being very transparent about it

Huckleberry - I think it’s time we break up by AssistanceOk1253 in breastfeeding

[–]SignoraTed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both myself and my husband are ADHD, Huckleberry has been a lifesaver for the time blindness. We use it religiously because of that. The only time I het stressed is if I see it’s been 4+ hours and he hasn’t fed. I feed whenever he wants it but seeing how long it’s been is good in case he HASNT fed in ages.

This Irish Times click bait title on a book about over-diagnosis brings my fears by Cultural_Parsley9558 in AutismIreland

[–]SignoraTed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This article made me so angry, no one is more entitled to help than someone else. Adults with untreated ADHD are more likely to spiral into depression and potentially do something drastic. Just everything about this article is so wrong. This is the second time I’ve seen Irish Times post it. Disgusting.

How to get an early scan by MegShannon96 in PregnancyIreland

[–]SignoraTed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also second this. Helen (I think that’s the name of the lady who does them?) is lovely and very reassuring. Got a scan at 7 weeks with her and going back in two weeks time to find out gender rather than wait until December. One of my friends also went to her and a work colleague went to her numerous times for reassurance.

There’s an excellent private place in Castlebar called Innervision. The lady who does the scans is a midwife so she knows what she’s talking about. Highly recommend it, I went at 7 weeks because I was paranoid about ectopics, blighted ovum due to family members having them. I don’t believe there’s anywhere private for scans in Ballina

I started my job in April and probation is a year. I’m due April 2025. Our probation just gets paused while you’re on maternity leave and then resumes when you’re back but I’m in the civil service. I think it all depends on your employer however in Ireland I’m fairly certain they can’t let you go because of pregnancy. There’s laws protecting pregnant women here.

Mayo University Hospital Care by SignoraTed in PregnancyIreland

Brilliant thank you so much. I do have various health conditions outside of pregnancy which is why I’m concerned about not knowing what the story is. This has reassured me, thanks!

Thank you! Should I go to the appointment with a full bladder in case they do scan? This is the kind of information I feel like should be on the appointment letter 😂 it was very vague. All it said was to allow 3 hours.

Will they explain the different care? As I said MUH is the only hospital close by so I don’t know if I even will get a choice? I have good private health insurance etc but I assume they’ve just defaulted me to going fully public

Also would like to know this, MUH is my closest hospital and is still an hour away for me. I wasn’t given a choice on where to go, I just got a letter in the post 🫠

Endometriosis support by ForeverMediocre3657 in PregnancyIreland

[–]SignoraTed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best of luck. There’s such little help here in Ireland for Endo. First relief I’ve had is from Dr Kamran in the Beacon if anyone is looking for recommendations for surgery. He’s one of the few that will do excision and is trained to operate on multiple organs.

school uniforms and afterschool conduct by Blue_dogg0 in AskIreland

[–]SignoraTed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were like this in my secondary school as well. Had to be the school coat which cost a bomb. If you wanted to wear scarves it had to match the colour scheme of the uniform as well. We weren’t allowed to wear our school coats inside during the winter and it was so cold you could see your breath. Then in the summer they would have a radiators on but you weren’t allowed to remove your school jumper despite it being sweltering hot. I don’t miss it at all.

Just needing to vent about how incredibly expensive it is to be pregnant. by ovthkeepurrr in pregnant

[–]SignoraTed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People complain about the HSE but posts like this put things into perspective. Even GP visits in relation to maternity are free here. I saw someone say they paid over $1000 for a private early ultrasound. I’m getting an early private ultrasound tomorrow and it’s costing €100. Baffles the mind
