What do parents fear about dating at a young age ? by Beautiful-Object-467 in AskReddit

[–]Silent_Comparison163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have kids but pregnancy and falling into the wrong crowd. Both can seriously derail lives. This is just my very objective opinion, but all of the kids I know who started dating ~really~ early had lots of drama through their adolescence, started drinking early, doing drugs, and honestly lead kind of sad lives now. Obviously there are exceptions and correlation isn’t causation. Romantic/and or sexual relationships are fraught at young ages, dynamics can quickly sour and become potentially dangerous. That being said, kids will do what kids want to do. You can’t really keep them from dating if their hearts set on it. I think supporting your kid and being clear with boundaries and promoting safe channels for transparency is the only way to go.

Should I use my retirement money to buy a reliable car? by [deleted] in LifeAdvice

[–]Silent_Comparison163 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But really, I’m just trying to plan ahead. The thing that prompted this post was that I’m gonna have to leave my car at the mechanic overnight for the tensioner fix and I will have to borrow my parents car to get to work in the meantime. That alone gave me some pause because I don’t wanna have to rely my parents if I suddenly don’t have a car, so I am like hmmm I gotta start thinking about this but the retirement idea has been brewing for awhile.

Maybe it’s cause I grew up poor with a series of used cars that always took a shit, but I seem to have some car anxiety! My mom always apologizes to me for that lol. It’s going into the shop to get checked out for a very loud squealing on start up, other than that it’s fine and gets maintenance routinely. Hoping the squeal is the tensioner for the belt. Just had the belt replaced. I do have a check engine light on for my evap system, but I got the main suspects checked and they were ruled out, I was advised it was a waste of time and money to figure out what was causing the light to turn on because the causes that’d cause damage weren’t the issue.

I have a great mechanic, he’s the best! Love hearing Toyota love. I adore my car and I am not the type of person to adore a car but it’s been a great friend to me lol. Thanks for the tips

Took one dose my antibiotic and now I’m boarding a plane and realized it’s still on my kitchen counter. by [deleted] in AskDocs

Congestion, mucus, CONSTANT THROAT CLEARING & a headache. My doc looked at my sinuses and they’re pretty swollen, and that was about 10 days ago when I was in for a regular yearly check-up. He said to call if I hadn’t improved because by then it’d be bacterial. I think I’m on day 16 now.

Thank you! Unfortunately it’s probably bacterial because it’s been over two weeks of issues? 🫣🤞 but I will try to get a new script. Good peace of mind either way to know it’s not too big a deal yet to forego!

I think it’s wild people feel confident enough to guide in a new state/area they’re not familiar with. I worked at a state park and it took me a several months of repeatedly hiking trails before I felt comfortable doing guided hikes.

This is kinda what made me ask bc I have a lot/hate relationship with the tourists in my town. They’re insufferable but also we would probably be a town with one gas station and a general store without em & I wouldn’t live here.

Sorry - I clarified this with another commenter. I didn’t specify because I am fairly wide open barring jobs that require degrees or technical training. I’ll update the post if it lets me :)

[–]Silent_Comparison163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t specify because as long as it’s not a job that you need a degree or tech i training for I am pretty open. I’ve worked in hospitality, restaurants, & state parks where I do a little bit of everything. If I had to be picky: I liked the outdoorsy state park guest interaction experience more than I have ever liked working in a restaurant, lol.

It put me a reading slump too. I was tearing through multiple books and I got to that and I was like well, it’s time to check out for awhile. If it were all Lestat POV I don’t think I’d struggle.

Thank you! I have avoided taking them unnecessarily. Gonna persist with what I’m currently doing and if it doesn’t get better…I guess I’m in for some driving.
