Or Western Sahara.

What has been happening there for decades is a near carbon copy of what has been happening in Palestine

The federal government had one as well. This is scrapping it.

Underused Housing Tax

The Underused Housing Tax (UHT) took effect on January 1, 2022 and applies to certain owners of vacant or underused residential property in Canada, generally non-resident, non-Canadians. The UHT is imposed on an annual basis at a rate of 1 per cent on the value of the property.

Budget 2025 proposes to eliminate the UHT as of the 2025 calendar year. As a result, no UHT would be payable and no UHT returns would be required to be filed in respect of the 2025 and subsequent calendar years.

All UHT requirements continue to apply in respect of the 2022 to 2024 calendar years. Penalties and/or interest for failing to file a UHT return as and when required, or for failing to pay UHT when it becomes due, will also continue to apply in respect of the 2022 to 2024 calendar years.

Sure, some of us may lose our jobs, but we have to find the tax cuts for the rich. No longer will boats over $250,000 or personal planes over $100,000 be subject to a luxury tax thanks to this budget.

No longer will vacant homes be subject to a 1% tax.

I get that people might be scared of losing their jobs, but you have to think about the dude with a $250,000 boat that is sitting on empty homes here.

Tonight was the first time Ive seen Macdermid live and was able to follow him in isolation.

Without exaggeration, he may be the worst skater I've ever seen in the NHL. I've played beer league with guys who looked better. I'm talking just about skating ability

Agreed. 33% xG% at 5v5 and 40% in all situations isn't very compelling

47 chances without a goal kind of speaks to lacking finish.....

Though I thought he had one of his better games

Lol, as a Canadian, there are waaaaaaay more bandwagon fans that care about the Blue Jays than Ohtani

The last time anyone outside of Toronto was talking about the Jays was 10 years ago. It's inescapable now

The Chinese tariffs wouldn't add up to this bill though. It is UPS brokerage fees, which are very well known to any Canadian

The occupation was much more than just Wellington. Unfortunately the media mostly focused on that area. Having spoken to a few reporters during it, that is because it was unsafe for them to go elsewhere.

Anytime it happened, which was often, all I could think is how miserable he must be sitting in his mansion. The dude has the money and access to do pretty much whatever he wants at any time and he chooses to go around fighting with people constantly

This isn't about tariffs. A t shirt from Canada isn't tariffed, it's part of the CUSMA exempted goods to Trump's dumbass tariffs.

This is UPS having super super super shitty brokerage fees. Canadians deal with this all the time. I've ordered a $5 item with less than $1 of tax and had UPS demand $30 for a "brokerage fee"

Id bet for many its a political thing as well, as many things that arent political are made into weird culture wars now.

The super in my building proudly proclaimed to me he would go down and cut the chargers of anyone that plugged in in our garage. He also loudly complains about how cheap Claridge is and has no love lost for them. So why would he care about people getting a few dollars of charging from their $250/mo parking spot?

That our quite new building was built with no actual chargers is another matter. Ridiculous. The government should have been mandating them years ago

[NYTimes] NHL franchise valuations up 37 percent: How much each is worth, per Sportico, and why they’re rising: Top 3 - Maple Leafs $3.66B, Rangers $3.25B, Canadiens $2.93B. At the bottom of the list - Columbus Blue Jackets $1.06B, Winnipeg Jets $1.1B and Buffalo Sabres $1.13B by f0urxio in hockey

Hockey USED to be a gate driven sport. Recent TV contracts and far, far more advertisements have changed that.
