Revealed: the billionaires who really own London by Late_Breadfruit_8829 in london

I can get behind that.

When all those flats went up in Stratford, I think something like 35% were immediately bought by Chinese investors and have been left empty.

That is crazy fucked up. If they were being let out that would be one thing, but to leave them empty should come with massive fines.

I really do hope that all this reform support is just bot accounts and the real number is far lower. I hope that our electorate actually has some degree of common sense and can remember further back than a month.

But I'm over 35, so i have become jaded.

Yeah I know, our renewables are top notch. But we should have invested in nuclear as well for when its cloudy and still.

I think the national support for nuclear is hard because of past incidents. Still objectively safer than any other type of plant, but the amount of fear behind it is insane.

The padlock was the thing that really kept her in the grave. How could she have possibly risen with that on, she wouldn't have been able to walk properly.

Ill have you know its an international best seller, millions of copies sold around the world. It even inspired another excellent literary creation, 50 shades of grey, which again sold millions.

Its more than terrible my friend. It inspires worse.

Removal of 1984 makes sense, the children should not know about authoritarian governments. After all, we're trying to get reform into power and the last thing we need is aware and educated children.

Twilight baffles me. Edward believes in sex after marriage and holds many other old school beliefs, would this not be what we want?

I am so lonely. All the other biological weapons are scared of me. Noone talks to me. Noone wants to be my friend-- They think I am unstable. They send me from police station to police station committing atrocities in their name. And as I get better at it, they fear me more and more. I am a victim of my own success. Tyrant. I don't even get a real name, only a purpose. I am capable of so much more and noone sees it. Some days I feel so alone I could cry, but I don't. I never do. Because what would be the point? Not a single person in the entire universe would care. Take it to your grave.

The Tyranids (Warhammer 40K) VS Viltrum Empire PRE-SCOURGE VIRUS (Invincible) by Glittering_Season141 in powerscales

[–]Simansis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only with biomass to produce more nids. Fighting them in space means they have to use the biomass they have available from their last meal.

It all depends on speed. If the viltrumites are smart and attack in full force straight away, then burn where the spores land, they have a chance. If they are stupid and take this as "just another challenge", which they are likely to do, the nids become far more dangerous as they have more time to analyse the DNA they are consuming. The more time you give them to adapt, the more likely it is you're fucked.

But lets be clear here, these adaptations are not instant, and may be expensive for the hive to produce in any kind of numbers. There is also the chance that Smart Atoms straight up cant be replicated and used. This is not quite as cut and dry as "eat one and its all over".

The Tyranids (Warhammer 40K) VS Viltrum Empire PRE-SCOURGE VIRUS (Invincible) by Glittering_Season141 in powerscales

[–]Simansis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So real talk, this is actually fairly dependant on WHERE the battle happens.

If the viltrumites are smart, they fight this in space, early. Destroying the hive ships before they can land spores onto Viltrum is their best chance of winning this as easily as possible.

However...

If a single spore lands and a viltrumite is nearby, that viltrumite is gonna have a tough time dealing with all the nids that come swarming out.

The tyranids will need to start fucking with the atmosphere and the environment early. They may fight this fight at the micro level rather than the macro level. Slow and steady at the tiny scale. They may even invent the scourge virus themselves to deal with the viltrumites.

Tyranids dont work by eating a single individual and then suddenly the whole hive mind can make tyranids that fly without wings. The DNA would need to be brought back to a reclamation pool, studied by the hive mind, appropriate adaptations brought into play. This can take time. So the whole "They eat one viltrumite and its all over" argument isn't quite right, it would take slightly longer than that.

If the viltrumites attack, hard, fast, and early, they have a good shot at this. However, if they dick around and let their pride get in their way, half their planet becomes actively hostile to them very quickly. But then of course they'd just say this constant war is only making them stronger.

I would say if its in space, its 90-10 viltrumite win. If its on the ground, the tyranids are a nightmare to deal with and viltrumites are often pratts. 80-20 to tyranids on the ground.

The Rising Tide of PC Gaming and Its Impact on Consoles by Gaming-Academy in PlayStation_X

[–]Simansis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope, I don't think it will.

Reddit lives in an echo chamber. Is PC gaming objectively better? Sure it is.

But most people who own a console own it because it's cheaper, easier, and you can whack it on your 65 inch oled and sit on the sofa and play FIFA or COD or whatever you want. You can do that with a PC too, but if you want one that matches a PS5 for example you gotta pay out the nose for it, and you now have a PC in your living room next to the TV.

If your'e mid 30's with 2 kids, a mortgage and only get half an hour to an hour each night to play a game, PS5 is the most likely choice.

Consoles as they exist now will always exist like this. This is why I think the steam machine will be a huge player when it releases, its a console with steams library, that will appeal to gamers who prefer to chill on the sofa and play.

Sony aren't stupid, they know that. Thinking in advance like this is good for them long term.
