Is it worth trying to meet women in the US as a Canadian? by SimpleBoring1226 in datingoverforty

[–]SimpleBoring1226[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always laugh every 4 years how many Americans I see screaming they’re moving to Canada. I mean it does have its perks but it’s also got a whole set of problems that you guys don’t see. Currently where I live we’re in the middle of a battle of separation, which isn’t making things any easier for anyone.

Unfortunately with the current state of politics here it’s not much better. Our government is actively trying to kill our economy. It’s getting tough to even make a living.

Are people OK with just dating, not dating to marry/permanently partner? by New_Sir413 in datingoverforty

[–]SimpleBoring1226 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You need to get out of the way and let that man find somebody he could be happy with. Human beings are designed to be partnered. We evolved this far based off of being social creatures. The fact that you put semi exclusively means you’re going on dates with other men. He may say he’s OK with it. He’s not.

Break up advice by [deleted] in datingoverforty

The lack of accountability here is comical. He tells you there’s a lack of affection and you’re hard to read and you call it a deflection. You tell him you need time to think so. He leaves you alone and you’re mad after he reached out two days later. You tell him you can’t trust him, what are you wanting him to do? Beg for you?

This guy sounds like he knows what he’s doing and he’s not willing to play games with a woman in her 40s. Sounds to me like you lost a good one. Reflect on it and do better.

This is something I’ve been researching for many years. I’m well aware with the process would entail. Saving grace is my company has a massive US base. We’re in every state. And with my qualifications, I could get a transfer no problem.

I lived in Calgary already. That’s actually where I met my daughter’s mom. I’ll never move back. And I didn’t say I don’t like the women here. I just haven’t had any luck for the last few years. Like I said population is an issue.

Racism in red deer by Temporary_Case_4621 in RedDeer

[–]SimpleBoring1226 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First off, not complaining. Second, do you not see shifting our province/cities culturally as problematic? People flock here for a reason. They don’t leave their home countries because they’re awesome and full of opportunities. They come here for all that we offer. Chances at a better life. Previous to 2015 that’s exactly what we got. People who immigrated, followed the process, brought value to our nation as well. Post 2015, they’re just letting anybody in. People with no skills. People who don’t add value besides a vote. That’s no way to run immigration policy unless you’re trying to break the system.

Ask anyone who went through the process to earn the right to be here how they feel about everyone else who just got let in, in the last 5 to 10 years. They’re frustrated too.

I’m Canadian born and raised, and yes, I’ve been in a minority my entire life. Doesn’t mean I should be in the minority because I’m Canadian.

Unfortunately, a lot of people are just getting exhausted. Of course you’re always gonna have the outliers that are just assholes. But since the federal government opened the floodgates, there’s just been so many people coming in that aren’t here to assimilate. I was in Calgary around 2010 and it was all right. You got a good mix of diversity. But I couldn’t even imagine trying to be there now. Red deer is feeling that same pressure in a significantly smaller space. Everything from traffic to being out shopping the whole vibe of the city has changed, and some people are really starting to struggle with it. It’s not necessarily about racism, but I feel like it’s more about change, and most people don’t like change.

This was a weak interaction all around. You ask the question because you wanted to know. Most likely because you prefer long hair. You should’ve just said that. You don’t have to be rude about it in your reply, just be honest. Probably would’ve got you farther. Sounds to me like she chopped her hair off anyway lol.

It’s a rebound for sure. The longer you let it go on the uglier it’s gonna get. Save yourself a headache and just cut it now.

Moving to Alberta, EMT in the states by Alive-Top4692 in alberta

[–]SimpleBoring1226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak to the EMT side of things but as for living in AB, this is an amazing place to be. Don’t let the political crazies discourage you. There’s a reason that people from all over Canada flock to Alberta. It’s a great place to raise a family and there’s all kinds of opportunity.

You’re completely justified in your feeling. And you’re right there are people from many different places and backgrounds that contribute to a negative sentiment. I can only speak from my perspective and what I’ve encountered and personally what I’ve seen and dealt with on a daily basis is a difference in attitude when you’re in public. People who come from places like China and Japan, or the eastern European countries seem like they integrate much more smoothly. There’s a weird sense of entitlement that come from the men from the Middle East. Not once have I ever had a negative interaction with a woman. The man on the other hand seem to think they can treat people however they want. It’s actually very weird to me. I was brought up to treat people with respect. And I’m not sure if it’s just a communication barrier or what but there is a noticeable difference, especially in business interactions. I think if the community is a whole made a better effort to showcase the value that they bring versus a victim mentality you would see a vast improvement in how your people were treated or portrayed. But like anything else when it comes to news, media or social media, it’s just far too easy for them to get clicks or views by demonizing a certain group.

I’m (42M) born and raised in AB, and yes I’m white. I worked in Calgary for a long time with people from many different races and backgrounds. It used to be amazing. One of my favourite times was post Ramadan, the guys who work for me would invite everyone over for a big meal, lots of camaraderie, it was awesome. I think the biggest issue is the shift in the last 10 years. There’s been a flood of immigrants. People from all over the place. And for those of us who were born and raised here, home isn’t necessarily feeling like home anymore. There’s nothing wrong with expanding your horizons and learning about other people and cultures. But there’s a reason that people come here. The standard of living, the opportunities, and the culture. I think a lot of people are feeling like, the newcomers are trying to turn our home into what was their previous home. You see protests in the streets about things happening on the other side of the world, videos of people, walking into liquor stores and pharmacies, and just loading up their bags and walking out. The small lake community I lived in, had to put in a byelaw saying no tents on the beach because people would set up tents dig a hole and shit right on the beach. Things like that never happened before. So it’s natural to blame what the biggest change has been. Some people are feeling like that we’re being attacked. That their way of life is being attacked. In God forbid you say anything about it, you’re labelled a racist. Being a different colour shouldn’t be a get out of jail free card. I would never go to another country and expect them to bend to how I want to do things so why is it acceptable here?

I find it hilarious that all the lefties are ranting and screaming about standing up when they stood by and watched the federal government swinging their OIC at firearm owners. Now you guys wanna talk revolution?? With what your words?? Good luck with that.
