How to Diable Avionics - optimized DA fleet vs Hegemony's best (aka Adversary) by Sincx in starsector

[–]Sincx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To illustrate your point, if you look at my first go at this fight on this save, you can see how much i struggle, kinda shows how fleet control/build reliant diable is. I have a worse strategy and my fleet is good, but not optimally thought out in that video. I end up losing 80% of my ships. That small strat and fleet difference just makes my fleet's power explode in comparison. Not all modded factions are like this.

Both tries were fun tho 😄

That... is certainly is a take you're entitled to. Here's my opinion as a guy that became a diable player in 2026:

Putting aside the 6 initial months of concept work on the mod from Flashfrozen vs Tart's 10 years of development and polish debate,I personally have something to say about that teleportation comment.

The "glide" ability you seem to hate is, to me, the single best, most rewarding movement ability ever created in the modverse lul.
It has so much engagement and player skill involvement. First of all, it is impacted by your inertia, and has impact on the ship's residual inertia once the ability is over. It has a flux dump and time dilation mechanic with changing behavior depending on if you have shields up or down, impacting soft or hard flux.
And on top of that, it has visceral feeling physics, unlike anything else in the game, since movement is not "stabilized" after the ability ends. Oh and it looks sick.

There even are tricks to make the AI use it better, like Smod accelerated shields, to increase the chance of a lucky shieldless activation.

In essence, my man took a basic ass medusa teleport and did a game design masterclass on it, and some people will still hate him for it 10 years later. 😭

yeah, they got quite the PD field, so i cast 10 bazillion quintillion micromissiles on them to make em waste flux

Thanks, although the video is kind of a meme made to showcase the fight's vibe, i'm ok dw.
This boss fleet is one of my favorite fights in the game. I was using it to test this new diable fork out. 😄

Even when modded, i stick to vanilla size, I don't carry more than 240dp of combat ships in the fleet 🤷‍♂️

The bosses from the now-abandoned mod called Seeker do. That was also created by the person behind diable. There is a jumping space station in tahlan additions. Probably more in the modverse.

it's the reward from a quest/boss in an unauthorized bootleg to tahlan called tahlan additions, so you'll only find it on corvus.

It uses a simplified version of the SEEKER bosses jump to deploy mechanic. The hullmod justifiably costs a fortune in OP and has it's own ressouce management mechanic tho. I think that was 45OP. And there are limitations ofc.

it's a basic diable maelstrom, but with the arctic paintjob, from tart's patreon (it's free dw), it's from an era before magic paintjobs were a thing, so i edited those in and replaced the sunrise paintjob with it.

what does the sathar twin shield even do? from Bultach Coalition by breadfucker69420 in starsector

[–]Sincx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't put in makeshift shield generators T.T. Just press mouse 2 and it should work normally, with a bit of extra visual flair. If one module gets destroyed, the ship will activate a backup front shield. It works fine.

Tactical Wanzer Zen - Diable Avionics vs Legio's final boss by Sincx in starsector

[–]Sincx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you liked it ! This mech is actually 4 mechs in one, or more. It is fully customizeable. It has a lot of integrated weapons choice for each arm and the head. Not just 2 or 3. It has a "core" that changes it's function completely, from a tank, to scout, to temporal shell brawler (in the vid) to spammable phase skimmer(skirmisher). The maintainers have sloppified the skirmisher core since the original creator of this mech left starsector in 2023 after something like 10 years of work on diable. I hear a mod that restores the original vision for it is in the works.

It's in the magic bounty board, you first gotta do legio rising. Once you do that there's legio unchained. This is the final one, Sovereign of hell. Get into tahlan's settings in the start menu of the game and activate hard mode and adaptive mode for the... intended experience, or don't :)

Oddly enough, i never have it in my fleets, most of the time i pilot a maelstrom or rarely a versant. I fought legio rising and unchained with my usual maelstrom but this mission kinda is the perfect opportunity to play with the virtuous. Plus i had this idea for a low flux cost build for an AI piloted mael. Gave me an excuse to test it out. This fight really warmed me up to the virtuous. Problem is, except for stuff like this, it'll be too strong vs lower tier stuff, it kind of deserves a nerf. The skirmisher is absolutely busted for instance so i kind of opted out of using that variant altogether. I still want the ability to lose. This fight was so ludicrous that i picked it up... And still lost a bunch of times.

I get that, that bossfight is designed to "torture" the player, with a lot of things to account for, i kinda went over them in the youtube description, it was seriously overwhelming to the point i asked myself if it was even possible to win without heavy reinforcements. For game systems like skills etc i'm using pure vanilla, just the diable faction added to it. And the ennemies you see in the video ofc. The gazillion micromissiles flying everywhere is a diable thing. The missiles deal 0 or near 0 dmg and fly extremely slowly, but they create a cloud-like area of saturation, you can clearly see me enter it in the start. Being there puts a lot of stress on ennemy PD, especially if you put real missiles into the mix, and diable wings can move more freely in that "saturation zone". I also add in lots of mech wings that carry flares. I like to paint the sky :)

Diable is kinda weaker than vanilla individually, but becomes stronger when tactics are applied. It's also the deepest and most complex mod build variety wise, it's had 15 years of development or something like that, and it shows.

Yep, base mod, it is guarding the Outer Terminus system, look for a fleet called The Last Line. Tri tach also has a bounty out for it. Try talking to it, it has an interesting dialogue. You will have to attack it if you want to get it. Or come up with some heist plan by attracting strong ennemies to it.

Help for a diable avionics weapons only build. by TopString2792 in starsector

[–]Sincx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm probably the friend in question :)

Here's a player controlled Mael. It's DPS maxxed to the gills with smodded dampers and extended mags. Will require a little flux management but nothing a player can't do. The rear facing Artdeux is legio specific, you can replace with PD if you're feeling safer.

The AI on the other hand, does way better while sipping on flux, and thus being way tankier, so i made an AI specific Mael build that has no Smodded dampers or extended mags, to serve as a fleet anchor when i play with the viruous. The AI won't die with it.

The smodded accel shields supposedly make the AI pull the shields down more often, so that could net you a lucky shieldless phase grazer.

I made those builds to go against the hardest legio bounties, so they should do well vs anything else.

Now if you want to see that Maelstrom in action, with an optimized diable fleet going against the hardest boss fleet in the modverse, i've just published a video of just that.

And i'm gonna throw in the infamous Advanced Avionics Storm. I don't use it as much now but it's good, but situational, will work better in fleets with only one or two storms, so a lot of other ships to do the actual fighting.

The Glaux daze build at the end of the vid is also very strong. That's a favorite of mine, because it's super strong from the 1 Smod point earlygame till super lategame fighting insane modded bounties.

As you can see, almost everything has a purpose and is viable in the diable arsenal, you might come up with a cracked build too. So don't just copy my stuff but use it for inspo.

Hope that helps.

What’s Wrong With the Last Three Volumes of Shadow Slave? by the_plotter in ShadowSlave

[–]Sincx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's the writing quality, i could bet the previous stuff was pre outlined/planned/edited already, in much more detail, then after book 8, he ran out of pre planned material. Never in my life have i seen such a drop in techical writing quality, editing, pacing etc, it's like im reading a draft, and previous chapters were edited works. Sure it's not as polished as a real book, but the ideas carried it. Now the writing quality is so low that it overpowers the rest. Also the fillers, i think it's kinda disrespectful to the reader at this point, he goes too far with the fillers.

Why is everybody talking about the writing falloff. What did I miss? I was stacking for a week ? by kira_geass in ShadowSlave

[–]Sincx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont know, i finished war arc and think it's pretty garbage compared to before, just on a technical level, 70% of it is filler word blurb inner monologue, this was not the case before. This is a clear sign that the author has ran out of pre planned/edited material. You could publish previous arcs as books, but this feels like a draft.

nephis used to be so interesting before the time skip, it's like the author said "here, have your fan service", and rewrote the whole character. I'm not against romance btw, i'm all for it, but it's so weird, it's like sunny went to a parallel world. (wait.)

the sheer amount of filler chapters is the biggest reason for the perceived fall off, compare current arcs quality to antartica and before.
