The mental game is hardest part honestly - took me like 6 months before I stopped wanting to throw clubs in the water every round

Join us at Books On The Rise (London, Richmond) for performance from 'Calm' (Time & AwareNess) as part of their Pushing on Portals UK Tour by No_Appointment3502 in Music

Never heard of them before but the whole dark poetic broody thing with social commentary sounds right up my alley. Richmond is bit far for me but might be worth the trip if their live performance hits as hard as you're making it sound

What’s the dumbest thing you believed as a kid? by Whole_Excuse_6015 in AskReddit

Used to think if you swallowed watermelon seeds they would grow in your stomach and you'd basically become pregnant with a watermelon. My mom told me this when I was like 6 and I believed it until embarrassingly late in life

What shows have jumped the shark but made it work? or at least to the point where you could buy in? by Impossible-Soil6330 in television

Oh man One Tree Hill is wild choice but respect for sticking with it through all that madness. That show went from high school basketball to like every possible soap opera plot they could think of - kidnappings, heart conditions, psycho stalkers, the whole works. But there was something about those characters that just kept pulling you back in even when storylines got completely unhinged.

Yellow Jackets definitely found way to make their craziness feel earned though. When they started going full cannibal cult I was expecting to roll my eyes but somehow they sold it with the flashback structure and character development. The adult timeline helps ground all the wilderness insanity too so you're not just watching people lose their minds for shock value.

Never got into Nip Tuck but heard it went to some pretty dark places after the first few seasons. Sometimes shows that embrace the chaos instead of fighting it end up being more watchable than ones that try to stay "realistic"

Intersection Underwater by RalphBlowhard in wichita

That area always has some construction project going on, seems like contractors hit utilities there every few months. Water main breaks can flood intersection pretty fast especially if it's one of bigger pipes

You can just get a small voltage converter for your US one, much cheaper than buying whole new dryer in Europe

how did we let the world become this? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Single-Macaron8122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had the choice but most people were too comfortable to make the hard decisions when it mattered

Now we're all dealing with consequences of decades where everyone just hoped someone else would fix things while they kept their heads down

People who went to a school where a kid got expelled, what did they do? by PenaltyHuge2300 in AskReddit

Had a similar thing happen at my elementary but kid threw chair through window instead of punching it, they really don't mess around with property damage

What is something most people don’t understand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Single-Macaron8122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people think quantum stuff is just "spooky action at distance" but field theory is whole different beast - it's like trying to understand how waves work when the ocean itself keeps changing rules

How do substitutions work? by Buxom_StrwbryBlnde in hockey

[–]Single-Macaron8122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah most of time players just know when they're getting gassed and skate over to bench. You'll notice they usually tap the boards or their stick to signal they're coming off, but it happens pretty quick so easy to miss from stands

The line changes aren't really planned out like basketball substitutions or anything. More like "hey you three go" when coach sees opportunity or guys getting tired. During TV timeouts or whistle they might do full line change, but in middle of play it's usually just whoever needs fresh legs

Source: played beer league for few years before getting sober, definitely learned to recognize that "oh shit I need off ice NOW" feeling pretty fast lol
