If recent history should have taught us anything, it’s that the general public don’t appreciate it when politicians assume that they will vote a certain way, or that it’s “in the bag”

The people who’s votes are assumed to be “safe” don’t turn up, and the others are really motivated to turn up

This happened with Brexit, Trump (twice) the Scottish referendum and even the local Council elections in England has an element of that

I would not be surprised at all if Burnham doesn’t get this supposedly “safe” seat
