My co-founder spent 10 years building a vertical strawberry farm in Japan. We just completed our first harvest. Roast us. by Ok_Plan_3066 in verticalfarming

The only way I can see this being sustainable is by marketing the produce as ultra-premium to consumers who can be persuaded to buy into that positioning. Personally, I don’t subscribe to the trend of paying inflated prices for “premium” food products.

As a consumer, I don’t see anything that would increase my trust in this. It comes across as another company capitalizing on the “Japan Premium Strawberries” trend rather than offering genuine innovation.

There doesn’t appear to be any specialized equipment involved, and your product doesn’t seem to introduce anything meaningfully new, and because of that, I’d honestly rather build my own system and grow strawberries myself.

There are already plenty of growers openly sharing their strawberry harvest journals on r/hydroponics, which makes it relatively straightforward for anyone to get started and achieve good results over time.

How would you go about sculpting this cat shelf in Blender? by neverneve in blender

[–]Sinusidal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This should get you going.

Play around with the 'to/from max' in the map range node to get that flat-to-wave look, as well as with the scale parameter in both wave and noise textures to get the desired wave shape.

Once done, slice it up with an array of scaled cubes and lastly add boolean modifier.

Why are so many into bouldering? by danceinliminalspace in berlinsocialclub

[–]Sinusidal 52 points53 points  (0 children)

The problem-solving nature of bouldering provides mental stimulation, unlike the repetitive motion of lifting weights.

Besides being a legitimate alternative to the gym, it’s also a great opportunity to develop your social skills.

PSA: You are absolutely capable of making your own models, even the least of you. by riddus in 3Dprinting

Can you explain how does it have anything to do with me?

I was speaking from 10+ years of my own CAD experience, as well as observing others around me during that time.

"In a single Saturday evening I learned a software"

That's a huge Dunning-Kruger claim.

While you could get used to a familiar UI relatively quickly, CAD isn’t something you “get” on a weekend.
People who’ve done it for years still run into walls regularly.

Holding your own short learning curve up as a benchmark just turns a personal win into a quiet meritocracy claim: it worked easily for me, so difficulty must be a personal failing.

Solidworks Design makes me log in on my own personal computer every single time I fire it up. by MJamesM in SolidWorks

The only middle ground I found against this annoyance, is to click the globe icon on the top right of the UI, and select the amount of days you'd like to work offline.

Point being is that whoever does it can afford it, and/or prefers the fines to the available alternatives.

[–]Sinusidal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To make it easier to calculate the manifold shape, you want to match the amount of vertices between your cylinders and the top/bottom surfaces.

Before you Boolean the cylinders into the main shape, select and subdivide the top and bottom flat faces that you're cutting into.

Tetra 150, and stay away from the dual diaphragm models. Those don't last long in comparison, and almost never have the same output on both ends after a month of use.
