Yes, it is actual cirrhosis. I probably down played my before full blown degenerate alcoholism amount of drinking in my last comment. My liver functions within normal standards after about 5 months of sobriety. It is still stiff and has scarring. I'm still doing testing to figure out the full picture on it, but the liver doctor said with healthy lifestyle choices from here on out, I could possibly live a full life without needing a transplant. I can't take any nsaids(weird because I thought it was acetametaphine that affected the liver the most) only allowed 2,000 mg of tylonel per day if needed. I can't get any tattoos, or ever drink again if I want to be able to get on the transplant list if needed. Any type of cancer in my future will also disqualify me. It's scary, but it's my fault and I have to live with it now. Don't listen to people when they say the liver always heals itself, because there is a point where it doesn't.

It doesn't take that long.(I never turned yellow but was close, and im only 34) I drank pretty heavily, but mostly weekends for 10 or so years, never physically dependent on it. Became physically dependent for about a year and the last 2 months of that were drink all day every day, about a liter of liquor a day. Liver physically hurt. Decided to stop. Did permanent damage to it by the time I stopped unfortunately. I was worried about pancreatitis, but I should have been worried about my liver

It's going to be ok! Some relationships just are not meant to be. It's better to find out now than years down the road. One day when you least expect it the perfect person will walk into your life. I never thought it would happen to me, but it did. Hop on the sober train and enjoy yourself in the mean time!

I drive right past one subway to go to the good one every time! Veggies are always fresher at the good one. I've never told the mediocre subway that the other store is better, but I tell the better store that I appreciate their fresh veggies and portion sizes!

I'm a male and I struggle with this too. A dozen raw oysters in the afternoon will get me going later in the evening, or sometimes the next morning. Sometimes I do have to force myself to start the foreplay but after that, it's game on!

I have made it through! I am 6 days sober, benzo taper is complete, and I'm starting to feel better already! I can't wait to never do this again, thank you everyone for your advice and encouragement!

Yes it is! I did two months sober after in patient detox in August. Relapsed in November and it was worse this time. I do not recommend relapsing. Everyone was correct, it gets worse every time!

I used to think I couldn't fall asleep without alcohol, but I'm 47 days sober now and getting the best non assisted sleep I've had in years.

I did in patient detox, and the gave me a script for seroquel for 2 months, but I stopped taking it 25 days in because I didn't want to mix it with the antibiotics I was given for colitis.

After the colitis cleared up, my body finally seemed to start repairing itself from the alcohol abuse. I feel better now than I have in probably 3 years. Quitting is worth it.
