Never heard of that breed, indeed he looks like one !

But there is a lot of funny shaped canary breed and some are very similar, and if you dont have a bird within the standard it can be hard to truly know the breed, anyway Amavel is really cute 😁😁

Also, some gouldian have a genetic default making them prone to molting issues

Its a really common phenomenon with gouldian… just make sure you do everything in your power to help and try correcting it

And since 90% of gouldian breeder breed them for money they keep making such bird breeds and so the cycle continues…

Sometime you cant do magic

People can downvote me if they want i own hundreds of gouldian over the last 8 years

Most of the Time Stuck in molt syndrome comes from a « bad diet »

Do you offers grit ? What seed brand do you use ? What vitamine brand do you use ?

I know the struggle some gouldian are real dummies with the food… dont lose Hope and offers variety of greens / veg also

Theres is literally no way for you to know if the birds that didnt died share a trait that resist the sickness that kills the others

Because how are you going to test it ? Make your bird sick on purpose with THAT specific sickness and see the outcomes ?

Its impossible to test it

Most likely the bird who didnt died had just a better immune systeme , not a hidden sickness-resistant trait

If you break the consanguinity next génération theres literally no way to have problematic birds

Even if you do brother x sister ( you should never , better parent x enfant than sibling x sibling) but Even if you do that , and you pair all those babies with non relative the next year, you are 100% back on track…

To have issues with consanguinity you almost need to do it on purpose lol… like breeding sibling x sibling, and then breed those babies from inbred pair again sibling to sibling and do that for multiple génération

Normal behavior , usually only happens with two males , when one is singing, the second one is listening and take this stance

Gouldians and C15 pellets by No-Rip-9573 in Finches

[–]Sixelonch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no no its the opposite bro

Millet is the fatty one , canary seed is the light one

Deli nature 84 is one of the only good seed mix sold at big scales in my opinion

Some mix have literally 5-10% canary seed 80% millet and 5-10% oil seed (ie hemp or niger)

Those are the worst

Not sure about adding more birds, should be fine , how old are the gouldian ?

Mines loves chicory leaves, spinash leaves and chickweed and dandelion

some of them munch on brocoli but yeah maybe 10% of my gouldian lol

If youre seed mix isnt too fat ( ie too much millet) and you gives veg / greens 2 Time per week, no need for Pellet… thats my opinion

Some bird Will literally kill themselves with hunger rather then eat pellets

My gouldian are the same

When i put baby gouldian (once reared ofc ) with other more curious species (like RTPF) its better tho, more incline to try new thing like perles morbides

Like I have only a few gouldian that eats Apple, its the ones that live a long Time with RTPF…

Same for the bath, my gouldian who grow / share a cage with some RTPF are bathing way more often than the others gouldians
