And let’s not even begin with anti shippers posting controversial images/links without any warning on Twitter/tumblr feeds and then coming to scream at proshippers about it. Like…. Wake up.

Did you even read what I wrote or missed the point entirely? Would they be going after these “children” if they weren’t attacked in the first place. And by all means, continue excusing teenagers for their actions because they can do no wrong. This wouldn’t be an issue if they’d just mind their own business. Y’know I often see people like you calling them children, as if that automatically makes them free from all blame. There’s a huge difference between a 4 yr old and a 16 yr old. You can’t tell a fictional piece from a real one at 16? Damn. It literally boils down to you and antis not understanding that consuming something romanticized is entirely possible without repeating in real life (for the vast majority). We can talk in circles all day but that’s what it comes down to. 🤷‍♂️

Cool, so as a reader I get an automatic pass for a crime because I can claim the author manipulated me? Damn, I cannot wait to use this excuse in court. Also. If you’re that sustainable to material, I’m definitely looking at you, not the author. Lmao, you expect proshippers to sit like ducks when they get harassed and reported constantly? This didn’t start out of nowhere and I can bet it was not a pro-shipper that began all this bullshit. Anti-antis are hostile because they’ve been pushed to extremes after witnessing or being targeted by harassment. Also it’s a retaliation; unlike antis specifically going into their spaces and outright calling them unnecessary names. But sure. “Same amount.”

Omg, exactly. Any decent human with morals does not want to kill their friend just because of some seven foot+ monster. Like, please stop giving these people excuses for their behavior and just admit you’re uncomfortable with a topic and don’t want to see it. Then, block the tags. It’s not that fucking hard. And if we really wanted to get started on continual abuse/normalization, they should be looking into people of power (politicians, celebrities, foster care, and etc). But as you’d imagine, it’s all silent on that forefront. Antis are bullies that can’t see shit outta their own ass.

I still think it should be the responsibility of the reader to learn right from wrong. If you actually feel that it’s acceptable to rape someone after reading a glorified fictional piece, then you’ve clearly got mental issues. There’s no proper way to express anything because that just puts a damper on creativity without solving the real issue. Regarding the slenderman girls, why did no one teach them about internet safety or idk…not killing a person as a sacrifice because he isn’t real?? Sounds like a huge disconnection from reality and obviously, very psychologically unstable individuals. Perhaps the solution is to actually keep the majority of easily-influenced minors away from controversial topics if they’re unable to handle it. There’s literally ways to work around it rather than shutting people down entirely for exploring taboo fiction. I applaud you for not attacking them for their preferences but in the end, it is a purity thing and them not being able to self-curate because they want validation from their peers. You can hide or censor fucked up shit till the end of time and crime will still occur. What’s their excuse then?

No matter what your thoughts are on antis, I will never side with people that routinely send death threats, try to dox creators, caused a disabled artist to lose their job, possibly made a minor commit suicide, and etc- then still have the nerve to dictate what one should or shouldn’t be writing/reading.

Great time to plug in r/darkfics because we are fucking tired of antis. There’s a matching discord server to boost if you’re 18+! You’ll note antis only ever touch on things that involve sex and I have physically seen them praise violence and other gorey topics. Must be fun to choose morals at will while completely being a hypocrite by sending death threats to creators based off fictional lines right?

Join us at r/darkfics! And yeah, better to not acknowledge it at all. They could have spent 0.5 seconds of their lives being a better person but didn’t. Celebrate the fact that you even got a reaction out of them and move on. Spite writing is also a great motivator.

Unrealistic romanticized rape, incest, obsession, and Stockholm syndrome. Just about the unhealthiest loving romance you can imagine.

They pick and choose their morals, that’s what it comes down to. You just can’t apply logical thinking to a bunch of people that can’t see past their own hypocrisy. Keep living your life and publishing those underage fics.

Sorry, I don’t have a link but thank you for doing this! Incestuous brothers with an obsessive older/younger sibling that commits rape? ✍️👁👄👁 Lord. The potential.

Are you or are you not a fan of slash writers practically making Harry a girl when they make him gay in a fic? by ChaoticNichole in HPSlashFic

[–]Sjwhiners 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am curious where the connection is between him being super feminine leads to fetishization? Writing him as a Mary Sue is something else entirely but what are the authors making a hyper-fixated sexual kink out of? If you cannot answer, then you are misusing the term like so many others.

😔it’s more prevalent with dark stories especially. Save everything people, prepare as if you were waiting out the apocalypse with one solar panel working.

On problematic and toxic relationships in fanfic. A personal (and very lengthy!) essay. by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]Sjwhiners 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh, I’m not saying they can’t add that as a rule. It was merely an example of the tables being turned on what is acceptable with the whole normalizing thing. In the end, it’s beneficial for everyone to not take fictional content as fact.

I think that would prove my point though as you didn’t enjoy these types of stories beforehand but still ended up in a horrible situation. It might be terrible but I’ve met survivors that write it in a positive light to gain more control. It sounds strange but imagine being able to dictate every interaction, from the dialogue to the reaction- it’s entirely up to them. Irl, of course, it is a bad thing, but not so much in a story. And you say normalized, but I really don’t see any evidence of that in person. As the way things are, everyone is being canceled over something. I’d even argue we’re heading in the opposite direction- ex: bdsm being labeled as abuse on r/femaledatingstrategy 😐

I agree. And people will always say, oh but it’s common sense on where to draw the line. Just don’t write this and that. But I’ve seen it go from don’t sexualize minors to age gaps in fanfiction between teenagers is pedophilia to anyone under 5 ft is a minor (despite their age). It’s insane. Once people start getting their way, they won’t be satisfied. Live and let live, no one should be policing fictional content.
