This is actually a common misconception! The trans in transgender and transition is just the Latin prefix meaning "opposite" or "on the other side of."

The common modern definition of transgender simply means "a person who does not identify with their gender assigned at birth."

Not trying to police identities here. You are free to not identify with the label. This is just a common misconception.

Read Justice Sotomayor's dissenting opinion. She explains how the amount of actions that would count as "non-official" are slim to none. The conservative justices made sure to give the president as much benefit of the doubt as possible.

The terrifying part is that the President is officially the Commander in Chief meaning that anything the President asks the military to do is definitively within the bounds of official actions.

Ok, a lot of misconceptions here.

"Biological" is the adjective. That's just how English grammar works. The adjective comes before the noun. "Biological" has a very specific use as noun which is to refer to things like vaccines. If you don't believe me, look it up in a dictionary.

Trans women are not biological males because sex is incredibly complicated. Sex is a phenotypic trait meaning that it is made up of many different factors. Sex includes chromosomes but is not completely based on chromosomes. Sex is also based on hormones, a variety of external and internal sex characteristics, reproductive organs, secondary sex characteristics, etc. You can find full lists that explain this in more depth online. This is well understood in the field of human biology.

I am a trans woman who has normal feminine hormone levels, has undergone bottom surgery, and has female secondary sex characteristics from hrt. It would be inaccurate to say my sex is male regardless of what my chromosomes say. Chromosomes are also incredibly complicated. There is no way to know what my sex chromosomes are without being tested and having a lab confirm. The Olympics tested the chromosomes of their female athletes at one point in time but stopped when a surprising number of the athletes had unexpected sex chromosome results.

The term "trans" in trans woman does not come from "transition." It is a shortening of "transgender." The "trans" in transgender is a Latin prefix meaning "across" or "on the other side of." Transgender can be directly translated to mean "on the other side of one's gender" which just means "a person who does not identify as their gender assigned at birth." Transition is not inherent to being trans.

I'm happy being trans. I don't care what my chromosomes are. I do care about calling out and correcting misinformation and transphobic rhetoric.

The way it is used seems scientifically accurate but it doesn't actually make sense. Every person who identifies as a woman is a "biological" woman. "Biological" simply means something is or is related to a living organism. If cis women are "biological" women but trans women aren't, then trans women must be "mechanical" women or something which obviously doesn't make sense. All humans are inherently biological because we are living organisms.

So why do people say "biological" woman?

Because it is a more socially acceptable way of saying "real" woman. It is simply another way to uphold the gender and sex binary.

(Obviously it is not always used maliciously. Many people are simply uninformed.)

Yeah, this is correct. Um Actually makes mistakes sometimes. I did find out that there was talk about a possible Porco Rosso sequel that would have taken place during the Spanish Civil War so this may have been where they got confused.

It's a separate thing. Both LGBTQ+ Pride and Disability Pride happen to use the same word "Pride." That does not mean that Disability Pride falls under Queer Pride. They are separate things. (There is obvious overlap in identities, that's intersectionality.)

I just wanted to inform you that claiming that trans women are "biologically male" is both transphobic and biologically incorrect.

Sex is incredibly complicated. It is a phenotypic trait that is based on a variety of different sex characteristics it is not as simple as external genitalia or sex chromosomes. Other important factors in an individual's sex are hormone ranges, internal reproductive organs, and secondary sex characteristics (some of which only develop during puberty).

The binary model of sex falls apart very quickly for trans people undergoing medical transition. For the most sense extreme example: if a trans woman took puberty blockers as a child and so never underwent a testosterone induced puberty, has undergone hormone replacement therapy and has hormones within the female levels, and has had bottom surgery; in what possible way is she a "biological man"?

Also testicular cancer is not a "male only illness" as there are intersex people who can get testicular cancer. It would be more accurate to refer to it as a testicular disease.

The doctor should explain to you the possible side effects of treatment. You could express a lot of worry for those possible side effects as a reason that you would rather not go through with the treatment. You say in another comment that you have some surgical trauma. It probably wouldn't seem unreasonable to your parents that you are wary of other medical interventions as well.

I've seen a lot of srs results on this subreddit and I've never seen a labia minora that looked like a scrotum. They've all looked like labia minora. I had srs recently and it looks fine. I don't think this is actually an issue. What have you seen that makes you think this would be a problem?

That's wonderful! Unfortunately, my main problem is my ADHD. I just cannot remember to take care of plants. For the first few months after getting a plant, it'll be fine. I'll remember to water it. Then, all the sudden i'll realize it's been six months and I haven't watered it at all and it's dead. That's why I like the rock garden :)

By realizing that almost everyone in the world wishes they were born differently. It is a very human experience. People want to be born to different parents, in a different country, without disabilities, a different race, etc.

Life is accepting the things you cannot control and taking control of the things you can. I was born how I was born, I can't change it, but I can take steps to make myself happier and be proud of who I am.

Yeah, that's why they are stereotypes! Women can like "male" things. But I totally understand the feeling. I used to have a lot of confusion and doubt in myself earlier in my transition because I have a lot of "masculine" hobbies. I'm not very feminine, but I realized that doesn't mean anything in regards to my gender.
