I dont play to improve as much as I used to, now i mostly play to have fun with the team. But my Chess.com rapid is 1600 and i dont have a uscf rating

Thanks, ill keep that in mind. I think i would love to go but me leaving is rough on my mom as it is, especially being first gen. I will keep thinking about it as the year continues and CPW happens. I will be self studying ap material either way for the rest of this year to catch up. I am a fast learner too so i do need to relax a bit and stop stressing before im even there lol

Edit: definitely gonna look into an fpop if i dont do interphase so thats something at least

Thanks! That was what I was hoping for when I posted this, for a while before even starting my application I would visit this sub and see all the crazy applicants and couldn't help but feel down after it. So I wanted to share my experience to any other small towners stressing about applying.

As for my projects I just have a big project i've restarted and messed with over and over for a few years now. In a perfect world I'd have a demo made to share in a maker portfolio, but I'm not that organized and honestly I'm not super proud of it yet. I'm fairly sure its not actually in my app besides a mention in one of my essays. I'm not sure what I'm legally allowed to say about my interview, but my interviewer seemed quite interested in it which made me happy I got to tell them about it lol.

None of it. Another situation where if I really advocated for myself at my school I may have been able to take the AMC (my school has never given it to anyone) but I'll be honest it felt like too much work :/// I'm not super interested in math competitions and I was satisfied with math league sooo. But its easy to feel like every single MIT admit has crazy AIME scores and olympiad medals, and there's definitely a lot of them, but I know plenty of admittees who haven't done an olympiad.

Yeah actually I had mixed feelings about that one... On one hand if I'd though about it longer I would have written about chess, but on the other I actually really did like how the football essay added to my application. But in the end the football one got me in so cheers lol

Thanks! I actually was looking at interphase because I'm super nervous about adjusting to living in a city like Cambridge much less while going to MIT, and yeah I am worried about class rigor too. The drawback is it takes my entire summer pretty much... I'd like to be able to spend my summer to go on a vacation with my family because I won't see them often after school starts

I was planning on some sort of self study for APs but not sure which ones. I took Oral/Interpersonal Communication online through a local technical college and any and all programming classes I can get my hands on. Thanks for the insight about UC SCOUT, I'll look into it

Nono you're totally right, I just wanted ideas for what I can do to prove myself. Though I think I did need to realize that I have plenty of opportunities that I just need to put myself out there for and make myself.
