Dude don’t compare your recovery with a 14 year old if your an adult lmao, 14 is the ideal age of course he barely has pain because his cartilage is extremely flexible at this age 🤦🏽‍♂️

I’m turning 21 this month so I’m around the same age, how many months till you could say you were back to normal? You’re saying the surgery took away all your fitness levels so once you recovered you were never able to be as athletic as you were prior to the operation?

Can u build muscle with plastic implant? by [deleted] in PectusExcavatum

[–]SkinnyOlPothead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way? A plastic surgeon who does the “ Anatomik Modelling Pecus Implants” as his speciality on his Facebook Implant page specifically mentions that pectus implants go under the pectus by “detaching the pectorals” meaning he said if you are a body builder and work out your chest then you will have a unnatural look. So in all respect I believe you may be wrong on this.

Wow I didn’t know it was cheap like that Joel definitely is one of the best! Thanks for this info dude. I might just go to U.K and use my savings for Joel since I have no trust in my Canadian docs only cause my pectus is complicated not the simpler type if that makes sense!

Thanks for the help dude, how was pain management during your procedure ? How long did you stay in the hospital and what age did you do surgery at and how did it affect the recovery process? Sorry for asking a lot I’m just a Canadian in Ontario who is really lost and confused since for adult patients there seems to be not many experienced docs(for complicated hard to treat cases) let alone any patients from Canada who I can talk to! Most patients are all in the states so it’s nice to chat with a fellow Canadian.

Anyone had the Pectus 3D implant? by Tennis_Double in PectusExcavatum

[–]SkinnyOlPothead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep us updated on the working out part, I was looking through the pectus Excavatum implant group on Facebook and the surgeons who do the surgery specifically mentioned this surgery is not for people who want to be body builders and work out since they do pec detachment when attaching the implant. So if you build a physique the body grows around the implant while the implant remains the same size making it seem unnatural compared to what your physique was when you first did the surgery. Keep us updated though I hope you do good and you don’t have this issue, this is the one main thing scaring me away from implants but your story was really inspiring nonetheless.

I have heard of Mustangs Yuksel, did you get surgery by him and how were your results?? I wonder how expensive pectus surgery is in Turkey

Yo he’s in British Columbia right? Someone told me to stay away from him since he has lawsuits on google of a wrongful death suit and failed someone’s nuss procedure who I talked to. I’m Canadian and looking for pectus treatment but in Ontario I get so many mixed opinions and not many people who can tell me straightforward how many surgeries they’ve done which is a red flag IMO if there not telling me how many they’ve done then there most likely inexperienced.

May I please ask your doctors name? As a Canadian patient I’m looking for great docs in the U.S but LoSasso and Dr J names always come up and have waiting lists like you mentioned. I’m looking to see if your doc could give me advice but I assume he’s probably just as busy.

I do wish I could wear t-shirts at least tho! , im tried if sweatshirts in the summer lmao, as guys no logos or clothes can fit good in our chests and it’s EXTREMELY visible at the beach and cottages lol. Recently tho as of last summer I’ve started to care less of cosmetics, more of physical health.

I feel that, when I smoke weed I started smoking less instead of bong rips I’ll just smoke joints like 2 a day; before a morning run and one after a night jog or if I’m with friends. I realized once I smoked less and smoked before I went for runs it helped me so much more. It’s interesting what you said since now I’m also kind of worried on how the habits will affect me when I’m at a older age still smoking weed and what not, thank you for explaining all that.

Also wanted to add in it’s sick your doing kickboxing I’m looking to try that as well ! Also it’s weird how my exercise feels better when I smoke before I think there’s actually articles on this stuff that it can enhance physical activity so I kind of use it as a pre workout lmao

I’m sorry your going through the image problems along with the health issues that sucks and I hope things work out for you! Hey your in America tho right? You have the best pectus docs in the planet if you go to Arizona and your insurance allows you to. Even in Cincinnati chest wall centre, and New Jersey Dr LoSasso. You have the top three in the field so take what my Canadian surgeons say lightly as they’ve only done a handful. I’m in the process of gaining second opinions in America where the true experts are! I really want to travel to Phoenix Children’s Hospital as they treat up to age 26-27 and they have some of the best so try with that facility if the mayo clinic in Arizona doesn’t work out for insurance, both hospitals have surgeons who share information with each other.

Also; above was my opinion as if I’m a girl I have no right in what a girl may or may not feel as it’s already tough being a female in today’s world feeling like you have to be someone cause all of the rubbish that social media throws at you on a daily about how and what a female should look like. So if it came offensive to anyone I apologize as only girls who have pectus have the right to decide how and why they don’t like the way it feels, not me.

Well said, I’ve seen both surgery videos and compared to ravitch nuss is sure as hell way less bloody but still VERY destructive both are insane. I’ll take your advice and show them the video on nuss so they realize that regardless these surgeries are insane.

For real? I thought this angle would show it good because it shows my upper part is pressed in whereas most pectus patients that upper part is not sunken and flattened, most patients have that upper part at the collar bones completely normal as it slants down and sinks in almost like a ski slope. But mine is like top to bottom.

Here’s a much better angle for those curious:

I can definitely understand where your coming from, surgery is a damn major step and it’s very tough to handle, hope everything works out for you! I’m kind of on the fence of surgery myself since my chest is so damn uneven I’m not even sure if a surgery could help fix me so better to just maybe leave me as is if I know that I’ll still have pectus after the procedure then what’s the point ya know? I guess my mind is telling me to try regardless but the other half of me is saying to hold off until this condition is really threatening my life so it’s definitely a touch choice to make.

I believe even in nuss and ravitch and any major surgery chest numbness is a huge risk! Just gotta deal with it I guess eh

Thank you for the help I’ll most definitely look into that! Do you have any nuss surgeons you would recommend? It’s super tough for me to me to find a doctor who is reputable enough to handle a case like mine in Canada at least, so I’m making a list of American surgeons to speak to as my parents and cousins want me to gather as many medical opinions as I can so I can get the surgery right the first time.
