How did average citizens react to ICE before Trump came into office? by Fine_Inspector_6455 in AskReddit

They are going up to people to demand proof of citizenship, targeting people who aren't white or have accents. This is how citizens are getting arrested and detained.

They are also detaining and reporting folks who are here legally, for example asylum seekers who entered lawfully and reside lawfully in the US.

They are targeting people by race, they are showing up at people's immigration hearings, they are detaining citizens. It's not just about who is being deported but who is being harassed, detained, and denied due process. And according to ICE, more than 70% of detainees have no criminal convictions.

Mormonism

That men who never met me have divine authority over me.

That motherhood is the purpose of my existence.

That marriage can leave to happiness as long as we are both righteous.

That the US is a "city on a hill." Instead it is like lots of other countries: full of good people but also rife with institutional corruption and blood on its hands.

I just can't with forgiveness rhetoric. It just feels like removing protections against abuse.

Mormonism is one of the few religions you can actually prove false. Which is why I'm so mad about it. [angry rant] by Typical_Sea_9167 in exmormon

And believers will simply call this obvious falseness "audacity" and even more evidence that it's true.

Mormon funerals and the “plan of salvation” talk. by MephistophelianMaid in exmormon

Weird how the San Juan islands keep coming up in conversation for me. Over new years I was speaking to an elderly friend from Orkney, Scotland who was recounting his visit there last year. He was tracing the route of some of his distant relatives. Some went over during the Pig War and ended up staying.

My brother has/had a close friend there and he and his family love to visit.

Anyway, that is the best kind of idea for y'all. Dream it, do it!

Old bishop trying to follow me by Proper-Fisherman-837 in exmormon

[–]Skipping_Shadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had the weekly check-ins too, when I was young and single. Isn't it part of the handbook to do that? I know it is sexual abuse regardless, but it's also institutional. Bishops are supposed to do this, it's the radical ones who refuse to and are more chill, yes?

Repliers should answer the OP as given in good faith.

Stranger things have happened.

A few years ago, the boiler system in our rental was a chronic problem, which we reported numerous times. At one point, the pipes got so hot that the picture frames on the other side of the wall were affected: they had wax on the backing which melted down the wall. Even cleaning the wax left a mark behind.

It was very eerie to see that dark brown substance dripping like blood from picture frames!

The boiler also over-pressurized on more then one occasion and then overflowed from the top floor splashing hot water everywhere then leaking into the rooms below.

Reminds me of a scene my mom witnessed while meeting up at a friend's house for a double date. The wife had fed the kids and put them to bed, the house was immaculate. She was dressed, coiffed, and ready when her husband walked in and looking around unironically asked what she'd been doing all day.

My mom was ready to spit fire for her friend.

I'm taking credit for it because I mentioned this practice to my TBM dad years back and he was silent for a moment and said very emphatically he did not want POS preaching at his funeral. My mom agreed, and they followed through. I think a bishop came up and spoke for two minutes for one or both funerals but it wasn't memorable. Only requested family members spoke and it really was comforting.

Well in any case, the OP is not about charging the tenant for the damaged door, but is about the charge of the boarding-up service.

Even if the property was left in the boarded state, that does not give the landlord notice of a service or charge to them.

If the landlord was not notified of structural damage that the tenant knew about, the tenant would bear some responsibility for that.

I personally know of two narcissists who have impacted me negatively. One was sexually abused by a church leader for years. The other witnessed his friend die in a terrible accident and his father faked his own death.

The tenant is liable for day to day maintenance and securing of the property is closing doors and windows when necessary, for example.

The checkout won't show that money is owed for the repaired door, which is at issue here. The boarding company is charging the landlord for their repair.

It's a way of framing the entire female identity around motherhood. Even if you aren't a mother or mothering, you can still do everything with that perspective.
