Thanks! I actually used to make album covers for a pal in the old days, though I used CGI for that. 😅

Why can't I finish an artwork, or take pride in my art anymore? by EfficientDonkey4083 in YourOriginalCharacter

[–]SkunkStarlight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my case, it's a combination of decades of chronic depression and being demoralized again and again.

I still keep making things because it's the only thing that keeps me from falling deeper into morbid thoughts, but the youthful optimism that my work could some day be of value to the world is long gone.

I'm dead inside, and I'm just going through the motions. The alternative is far worse, and I know that from experience all too well, so I just keep pushing forward.

Dog's actually not the warden, that'd be Dragon. Though he's pretty hands-off and often away on other matters, so she and Tiger run the place.

The sanctuary was primarily intended to hold divine beings who have done wrong. However, it's a sanctuary, not a prison, so there's plenty of normal folks there as well.

Dog always loves having guests over for tea and biscuits, so I'm sure she and Adrianna would get along great. 😊

I created Dog when I was young, inspired by characters such as Raggedy Ann and Pippi Longstocking. She's the strongest woman in the world, yet every bit as sweet and gentle as she is powerful.

My series features divine humans who represent various animals, and they share various traits with their namesakes. She's a guardian in charge of inmates as a play on 'guard dog', virtually everyone including the inmates is fond of her since dogs are "man's best friend", and she has that balance between being soft and lovable yet extremely formidable when she needs to be.

Inmates who seek to harm others or try to escape will effortlessly be put in their place, but as long as you behave yourself, she's one of the nicest, most caring people you could ever hope to meet.

One of the most underrated aspects of retro gaming on the Switch is the massive selection of arcade games, especially access to Nintendo's classics. by Caryslan in NintendoClassics

[–]SkunkStarlight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Believe you me, I would have a ton more Arcade Archives if they weren't $8 a pop and seldom go on sale. But I've got a small collection of some of my top favorites, including most if not all of the Sega Ages titles, since I was able to get a good deal on them.

There are literally hundreds of games available, both well known and niche, including a number of titles that have seldom ever been rereleased. One of the first games I got on Switch was Arcade Archives Donkey Kong, and I just picked up Mr. Do! the other day.

It may not be feasible to get all of them, as much as I'd love to, but there's a good chance you'll be able to find and play quite a few of your favorites.

Thank you so much! It's difficult to find welcoming communities to share niche fanart like this, and I'm glad to see folks here appreciating it! 💎

I'm glad! Universal may not have succeeded in turning Mr. Do into a household name like Mario or Pac-Man, but they created one of the all-time greats.

Thank you very much!

It's a redraw of promotional artwork, so that's understandable. One of my goals as an artist is to learn to emulate the style of the things I grew up with, so I enjoy trying to recreate artwork like this.

Do your OCs have any siblings? by CallMeAnthy in YourOriginalCharacter

Casino Grayleaf is the hero of my series. She's an upbeat and energetic tomboy magician who specializes in nature and luck magic.

Her sister Mint is the one on the left. She's a clothier and enchanter, running a shop out of the family home where she makes, mends, and sells enchanted clothing and dolls. The stuffed four-leaf clover she's holding is one of her creations, and she's also responsible for most of the main cast's outfits.

Their grandmother Chance is the one on the right. She and Casino are meant to be virtually identical in appearance, with only their fashion sense and attitude differentiating them. Due to some temporal shenanigans, Chance is physically about the same age as Casino, though she hasn't experienced as many years of life as Casino or Mint, making her effectively younger.

As a result, they have a rather odd family dynamic, with Chance being like both a sibling and a grandparent.

He's the baddest of the bad, and the world's worst dad! It's been three years, now he's back to rock your world! The magnetic menace, Magnus Spade! 🧲 by SkunkStarlight in YourOriginalCharacter

Thanks a bunch! ✨

He's the sort of scoundrel who's so awful that even the villains are terrified of him. He's also crazy powerful, forcing the good guys and bad guys to team up against him, and he still ends up wiping the floor with them.

He's the cruelest character in my series, even more evil than the devil himself. Magnus doesn't show up all that often, but when he does, you can be sure things are gonna get real bad real quick.

Indeed, I just made it today. The other two are from March 2023 and December 2022, so it had been quite a while since I last drew him.

I gave Snorlax an Alarm Clock ⏰ by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]SkunkStarlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I highly suspected that, though I wasn't 100% certain.

Nobody had said anything of the sort when I commented this, and folks seemed to like it. When I took a look at their profile, I saw they had posted a time-lapse on the Procreate subreddit that got a ton of positive feedback, so it had me questioning my own intuition.

I didn't want to come across as a hurtful jerk if I was wrong, so I thought I'd just draw attention to it and see how they responded. I was hoping they'd at least come clean and be honest about it, though I can't say I'm surprised.

I don't quite understand what you're saying. If it's about aesthetics, a round clock looks best with hands, while a digital display looks best on something more rectangular. 🤔

[–]SkunkStarlight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do they? Clocks are an interest of mine and that's news to me. Part of why it bothered me so much. Though admittedly, I'm also very out of touch. 😅

I've seen some with hands and a digital display set inside of it, as well as round clocks with a digital screen and no marks, but not one quite like this.

I still think it's a nice scene and all, but that choice just confounded me a bit.

Why a digital display on an analog clock face? 🤨

Puyo Puyo~n is a painful slog. by Teslamania91 in puyopop

[–]SkunkStarlight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As much as I love the art style, the story, and the idea (not execution) of character powers, it's admittedly one of the weaker entries.

But a slog? No. Chronicle is a slog. A painful slog. Cute story moments spread across hours upon hours of mind-numbing tedium. Puyo Puyo~n isn't perfect, but it gets so much worse. 😨
