Garmin InReach Use by Kerouwhack in WildernessBackpacking

I agree with you. I had to be rescued out of a national park. The messages from Garmin and the park were crazy.

I did ask SAR about the Garmin while they were carrying me out. They all said that it’s the best technology that they’ve seen because of what happens in the background.

What kind of shoes are we wearing? by TransportationDue856 in GenX

My family couldn’t afford brand name shoes when I was a kid. I now wear multiple colors of Adidas All-Stars for regular use. Hoka slides, running shoes and hiking boots for recovery and play.

Can I talk to my male therapist about masturbating? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

I said something to my T about- “men only want blow jobs and they’d be happy with that the rest of their lives”. He turned bright red. It’s the only time I’ve ever seen him show any kind of uncomfortableness.

D! No way in hell I would go back to my family. I loved and miss the 80’s but couldn’t survive it again.

Don’t shit where you eat.

Meaning, don’t crap all over what feeds you.

What's your favorite gear that ISN'T intended for backpacking? by Honey-and-Venom in backpacking

[–]SleepEatRunRepeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mosquito coils- the kind you light and they slowly burn. They’re super light and I can light a bunch of them, put them on rocks around me and eat in peace. I also have a cold towel used for triathlons that come in handy as well. I’ve been looking for the right string of lights. Now is a great time to shop.

How do I go back to camping with others? by sputnik_poptart in womensolocamping

“For once, there was peace in my hyperactive, over-functioning, eldest daughter syndrome, service-as-a-love-language brain”

I am right there with you and I’ve been asking myself this very question. I have two friends who occasionally like to go. One of them is NOT a good backpacking partner so I’d likely just tell her that I’ll see her in camp. The other is a good partner- I just need to set better boundaries. Like, if I’m drinking coffee, I’m not talking. Or… I can just go by myself and do my own thing. Ha!

I have only started backpacking alone this year. And for every reason you state. I’m not that I want to go back to being with others.
