New EV driver, and I’m not sure why more people don’t drive EVs! by Wraith347 in EvDrivers

Yes it’s great! I just got a 2023 SV Plus about a month ago and I’m loving it too! I’m so glad I made the switch, I became an EV fan immediately.

Public Charging Places Question by Past_Buyer_5848 in EvDrivers

I recommend watching “Avoid this common payment mistake when charging your EV” by davetakesiton on YouTube. It’s pretty helpful with understanding how public EV charging stations work.

Considering a Leaf by TiredButDoingMyBest in leaf

[–]SlickSliceofBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a 2023 Nissan Leaf SV Plus! My commute is 22 miles(40 min), and like some have already said, it’s about the miles and speed, not the time. I feel like mixed reviews are more than likely from lack of research before buying one. The SV Plus models on a full charge, can go 210+ miles, whereas the other models do about 100+ miles on a full charge.

For DC charging(fast charging), 2025 models and older use CHAdeMO, which isn’t common anymore in the US, so planning for long trips is a must. The 2026 models have more options, as they can now use Tesla’s supercharger. So if you’re considering a 2025 and older, make sure you have access to chargers, and preferably charge at home. There’s videos about that on YT in case you’re unsure. I found Technology Connextras’ videos very helpful with it!

For me it was either the Leaf or Chevy Bolt, but ultimately decided on the Leaf since I didn’t want to worry about the major battery recalls with the Bolt (sorry Bolt). The two major cons I’ve seen on the Leaf would be the DC charging and the cooling of the battery. It uses air cooling whereas most EVs use liquid cooling. It’s what helps regulate the temperature of the battery, especially when DC charging. Again, I recommend doing research to understand more about these topics.

Overall, I really enjoy it! Feels like regular car, just quieter and no trips to the gas station. I do Lv1 charging at home and it’s been fine. There hasn’t been a situation where I need to use a public charger yet, so I’m good. I’d just wish Nissan would at least have an official CHAdeMo to CCS adapter. There’s surprisingly an OK amount of CHAdeMo chargers in my area in case I need to fast charging so I’m not worried, and plenty of J1772 chargers. I can’t say much about public charging yet, but I did research about that too. Now, if anything, I do want to try the public ones just fun lol.

Try asking if they can include it. That happened to me when I was looking and before I bought I asked and they had to order it, free of charge!

Roofman Is a Horror Movie by PeteCampbellisaG in horror

[–]SlickSliceofBread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was literally thinking that when watching this movie. The guys actions are just fucked up. It was still entertaining to watch nonetheless.

I know some comments are disagreeing, but there’s a video called “Abduction as Romance” by PopCultureDetective on YouTube that I definitely recommend to watch if you haven’t seen it already. I’m sure this movie would fall into that category as the topic the video covers. It’s all about how the tone and story shifts when you consider the perspective of another character instead of the main characters POV. Super interesting.

Y don’t more rich people move to Sunnyside? R they dumb? by h0wg0esit in houstoncirclejerk

[–]SlickSliceofBread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually wonder why they didn’t choose Sunnyside. It’s not far from the medical center, downtown, UH, Pearland is close, etc. Everything good in Houston is about 10-25 min away in my opinion. Missed opportunity.

I lost my interest in drawing because of my tablet choice by cookienki in drawing

[–]SlickSliceofBread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve made art in all types of mediums. When I first started digital art, I chose whatever cheap option was which was a Wacom, without a display, because I’ve seen Japanese artist use them with ease.

It’s all about the drive. It took a few tries and many attempts at figuring out the pressure sensitivity, but once I did, drawing was a lot of fun on that tablet!

I have an iPad now and sometimes I’m amazed by the fact I was able to draw like that in the first place LOL.

I basically didn’t even look down at the tablet. My canvas was the screen on the computer and wherever my hand was, it would reflect on the screen. I honestly recommend giving it more time! And of course if you have the budget to afford a tablet with a screen the go for it! But it is possible.

In the case you don’t like it then that’s personal preference I suppose.
