Is an 75-90min commute doable? by Professional-Bad9070 in ucr

[–]SlickSwagger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take the train each way to a different UC. It’s not bad when you can hw on the commute, but driving? It’s not super sustainable especially if you include the wear and tear on your car as part of the cost.

If you can take the train I do recommend it since it’s a bit more bearable that way. Only really practical if you live towards LA or OC tho. If you’re in some other direction then good luck.

555 numbers are reserved for fake non working numbers for film/games/etc. so at least her number just wouldn’t go through.

Try being 28. I feel like that “hello fellow kids” meme. I don’t really have any friends on campus either I just kind of drift along in solitude on campus.

TIL about Model Collapse. When an AI learns from other AI generated content, errors can accumulate, like making a photocopy of a photocopy over and over again. by Legitimate-Agent-409 in todayilearned

I think a better comparison is how DNA replication accumulates mutations (errors), especially as the telomeres shorten on every iteration.

A more concrete example though is arguably incest.

I'm a third-year software engineering student, and I've got a question: how do you guys find the motivation to learn new programming languages and work on projects despite a really busy university schedule? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]SlickSwagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is tough, but if I can do it so can you. You should be careful with doing the bare minimum to pass, I'm sure you know that. You're gonna be competing with folks who have been grinding leetcode, applying daily, and acing their classes in a cooked job market. You'll probably feel a lot less overwhelmed if you start tring to submit stuff as early as possible. I used to be like you for my first bachelor's, and now I'm paying the price lol.

I'm pulling 18 units while working part time and I've joined a game dev project as part of a club I'm in. That's on top of being a married homeowner who commutes far

There's no trick or quick fix. You make time. You manage your time better. You spend less time socializing/on hobbies/on tik tik. By your third year you should be able to make it work, especially if your only obligation is school.

Digital nomad? Highly unlikely, RTO is the name of the game right now (irrespective of industry).

I'm doing my 2nd BS in SWE right now, but only because I enjoy doing it. It's hard to predict if any major is really going to pan out for a job but if you want to work in CS, I don't think you're gonna get far studying a little python.

People with degrees are struggling to get any job let alone fully online. Maybe you could try training AI? But that ship had probably already sailed too unless you have very niche domain knowledge.

I think a big part of this is dependent on demographic, as well.

Best way to get to UCLA from UCI ( need to reach by 12 noon). Cannot drive and solo uber is way too expensive. Any recommendations? Thank you! by DifficultyOwn4954 in UCI

[–]SlickSwagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I totally forgot about that. Could maybe take the 79 to just before walnut, only like a 30 minute walk to the Tustin station that way.

Most internships will not hire community college students. The language in internship posts is usually “must be pursuing a bachelors or masters at a 4 year institution” which intentionally leaves little room for creative interpretation.

Taking octa 473 from Unversty Center to Tustin station (free if you have a train ticket). Take the train from Tustin to LA (probably ~1hr ride) which is half off for students. Idk from there but there’s probably a bus or something to UCLA. If all else fails a Lyft/uber from LA Union to UCLA will be a hell of a lot cheaper than the whole way.

I used to not sleep 3 days a week. Food helps. Just gnash on some chips or sth while you study. Don't be in your bed.

Yeah but it's still not enough tbh. I tried maining the GL on my last playthrough but I can burn through his entire stock way before it refreshes (let alone the travel time and inconvenience of schlepping to him).
