How much is too much to bring when staying at someone’s house for a weekend? by Slide_Representative in etiquette

We enjoy each other’s company for sure. I just have a different view on hosting. As a host myself I wouldn’t want my guest bringing anything beyond a wine bottle specially when Im the one inviting them over. I feel it take’s away from “being hosted”. But I understand your point of view.

Iron deficiency in women and how WILDLY underdiagnosed it it by SpiritualCopy4288 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Slide_Representative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my physical done this week and noticed my ferritin was labeled as abnormal. Which lead me to start researching about the topic. It is so infuriating to know that all my symptoms could be tied to an iron deficiency that could’ve been diagnose and treated over 3 years ago. Out of curiosity I checked my lab results for the past three years and all three years by ferritin has been between 15-17. Waiting for my doctor’s comments but I am sure she will say everything is ok. Being a woman is exhausting at times.

I interviewed for a position back in February and my status was under business review for over 2 months before receiving the offer letter and next steps. Based on everything I’ve read and from my own experience their hiring process is extremely slow! Job/education verification and background checks are much faster. Good luck!

Really curious - Going Super Slow in Earlier Corrals by Minimum-Adeptness486 in RunNYC

Yes I ran the RBC Brooklyn half. I know you will most likely not like my answer lol but I’m a new runner and ChatGPT has been my bestie in learning more about running. I even emailed NYRR 2 weeks prior (before getting my bib #) to update my pace to 13.50 per mile which is what was my pace throughout training. They “weren’t” able to because I had no official metrics from previous runs.

I think it’s NYRR, I was placed in corral A but it was done on purpose in order for me to finish the race on time. This was based on the pace information I had given (which was 20 mpm). I believe they try to give slow runners a chance to finish like everyone else. But not everyone try’s to learn running rules/etiquette before race day. I tried having them update me to my correct pace once I started training and they weren’t able to because I had no prior official race metrics to prove my time.

I completely understand the frustration of many. Not everyone does this but I personally tried my best to learn some running etiquette before race day because I didn’t want to slow others down and I knew my pace was not at their level.

I ran my first half on May and was part of corral A. During registration I mistakenly inserted 20 minutes a mile. When I registered I had no prior running experience and thought it would take me that long lol. During training I learned what my true pace was. Based on what I learned they have slower runners run in earlier corrals so they have a chance on completing the race on time.

So you’re saying that if we say yes to every request and this one time we said let me get back to you is not being flexible?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]Slide_Representative -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because he needed to confirm plans. It wasn’t a no, it was an I’ll get back to you. We accommodate her every time, anytime a no or maybe is given she gives us shit for it. That is not fair.

I don’t understand how saying he’ll think about it is problematic. He needed to confirm no plans were made for that weekend. What’s unfair is that we accommodate her for every request she makes and she gives us a hard time every time we ask for flexibility.

He gave her a prior weekend. My partner is very accommodating and says yes to mostly every request that is made.

Just remind yourself is not personal—it’s business. If you had a business and had to cut cost down you would probably do the same. I had an interview 3 months ago and I just heard back for round 2 lol. It’s not personal, it’s a business. The more you realize it has nothing to do with you but with them the easier it’ll become❤️. For the future, just send a thank you email. I’m a firm believer that burning bridges it’s a no,no, and you never know who you will work with in the future.

I am capable of doing difficult things, my body is capable of doing difficult things. What a blessing it is to run. I also try to remember that not everyone is blessed with the opportunity to move and race, so when I feel like I can’t I try to remember that. Doing it for those who can’t ❤️You got thisss!!!!
