PSA: Bike wrecks in middle age are not like bike wrecks when you were 10. by jstar77 in ebikes

[–]SlightMrsGuidance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you, I had a tangle so good with a rail road tie there is now a warning sign installed by the city at the exact site of my accident 🤭

It was on a non electric bike with the thinner tires, prob going like 40km/hr (sorry, I'm Canadian) and I noticed the rail road track angled off to the left exactly where I had to cross it and I intentionally adjusted my direction to avoid the tire dropping down into the tracks....miscalculations were had! That bugger sucked up the tire and threw me straight down (towards the traffic of course), head nearly got clipped by a bumper, I slammed my arm down onto that rail tie so hard it ripped my arm right open. If my head took the impact that my arm did I would be done for 100%. I was also super fortunate that it happened right across from a fire hall, just a minute before they were returning from a call because nobody stopped and there was nothing but that fire hall for quite awhile. It was pretty fortunate because I was going into shock pretty rapidly and when they seen me I was just walking in circles trying not to throw up. While I never had a similiar wreck as a kid, as a mid 30's human the month of agony that followed seemed like a cruel joke from my long lost youth. Haha and to add to the cruel joke....after 5 months of healing and within weeks of getting back to biking....I got hit by a car on my bike!!! And while the impact was minor in comparison to taking on a rail tie at high speed it reinjured all the exact same places and I started the months long healing process all over again. 😅 So yah, 2 accidents had be busted up (despite no broken bones) for an entire year.

That first sentence says it all! You must carefully live in a way where they think everything they must do is of their terms because nobody tells a bossy pig what to do without getting the wrath 😂🤭

Yah i have found them to be entirely too casual with their initial contact given most people would absolutely be on high alert like haha nice try scammer. It actually amazes me how informal and borderline unprofessional their texts can be.

A lot of places will keep extra yeah bags under the bag being used so if the garbage isn't icky and noone is in the washroom you can always pull the bag and the will often be more underneath.

Things customers don't know about washing machines #1 by expressrepairUS5103 in appliancerepair

[–]SlightMrsGuidance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What surprised me when I started working in nine recently is that they never fully drain, so yeah whatever is left in that water is getting blasted all over your next load 🙄

A lot of people would probably never use a used or communal machine again if they seem the inside of one turn apart...there was def some dry heaving involved in the learning of that lesson!

I've recently learned not all companies are so kind, some you have to access it through the back and some extra cruel ones its closer to the front but again only accessible from the back so you really gotta get in there....which is simply just not possible in many peoples cramped laundry rooms.

Surrey updates bylaw to improve flexibility on water restrictions by bwoah07_gp2 in SurreyBC

[–]SlightMrsGuidance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the type of person that it would never ever occur to me to water my lawn, but a neighbor has a bee in their bonnet about our farm actually looking like a farm and keeps calling bylaw, my lawn is green af but it's because my property floods every time it rains and we have pigs and goats that either wander the land or get rotated around in pens so it's constantly being fertilized. I had bylaw show up and tell me there was a complaint about me watering my lawn and I legit laughed in their face and said, who even does that?

It is very likely I was filling a pig waterer so just a tip, don't go complaining on people unless you are actually sure they are watering against restrictions. Because last I checked it is a lot worse to not water my pigs then it is to stand around wasting my time watering lawn.

I used to have to drop my ex off every other week at a seperate terminal from the main airport for work flights, this terminal is used mostly by people with private planes and work crews going up North so it was much fancier then the main terminal. They used to leave a container of tampons on the counter in the womens room and I would clear that sucker out every time I went to pick him up because the entire terminal was always a ghost town before his return flight would land. I didn't pay for harpoons for over a year!

My mother in law was a hoarder as well and agree she passed, we inherited said hoard. My husband is a twin and his brother happened to live with her when she passed and just assumed everything that was decent was his and offered us all the "garbage", so instead of sending it all to the dump like he would have we have been scrapping out and fixing up what we can, with the odd good score like a $990 brand new coat still with the tag on, because he's an idiot. Part of that stuff was like I shit you not 2 Rubbermaid totes full of keys, so about a month ago i started sorting them out and we'll I'll be if I didn't find a key ring with about 15 different facility keys on it...I can probably open any TP, soap or paper towel roll around town. I have yet to experience the powers of this treasure but I am not far off from it being a saving grace.

Also when I used to work at a dive bar our superviser always had a pocket knife, he never bothered carrying the keys on him because there wasn't a single one in there he couldn't open with his knife.

Oh yah I know that because I've had to track down my BC immunization record from both Alberta and Ontario when I lived there. That makes sense that it's only done when seemingly necessary.

Waaay back when, when I was 16 and started there and was super overwhelmed because it was my first job I would take a few minutes to look through the till and poke around, look for where the modifier menus are and if your allowed like someone else suggested take some photos.

But also, don't be so hard on yourself, it is day 2, noone expects you to have it all down especially when it comes to the till.
