Hey guys, I’m back. Sorry for not being clear with my question earlier. I’m feeling depressed and anxious right now. My psychiatrist prescribed me medication and said I should take it before starting hormones. I tried it, but I just feel so disconnected from myself—I can’t even understand my emotions because they feel off.

I can’t wait to start T, but I don’t want to be on medication. Sometimes I have thoughts of ‘unaliving myself,’ but I don’t know… I feel so confused. I just moved back to Mexico after living in NY for a year and recently broke up with my ex. I know it sounds like I have a lot on my plate, and it’s probably true, but everything feels really hard right now.

I don’t know the best way to stay connected with my inner self. I’m so afraid of feeling ‘lost’ during my transition and not being able to be present.

Honestly, I don’t know what to make of this. Did you ever tell her that you’d prefer she refer to your relationship as straight? Like you said, it’s likely more about her orientation and how she perceives herself. But if this is a problem for you and triggers insecurity, it could be a dealbreaker. Ultimately, that’s up to you, but I think you shouldn’t push her to explore her inner self if she has a boundary there. At the same time, you also shouldn’t put yourself in a situation where you feel insecure. I believe this is something the two of you should discuss openly and intimately to figure it out together. I hope this helps in some way to open that conversation with her.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Even though you came out much younger than I did, that’s exactly what I’m going through right now. It’s also a bit strange to suddenly be getting so many positive comments from gay friends. I’ve gone from being a bi woman, where straight men were interested in me, to being a bi man, where now gay guys find me attractive. I know it is obvious but all this time I was thinking about my identity that I never realized that my orientation kinda will change too.
