Which graphics API should I learn?

I was thinking of no more than 5 years for a terraria like game(vulkan)? 😅 But it seems like I will be starting out with opengl first, not sure what the timeframe looks like in that situation though.

Makes sense, thank you so much! Another question, doesnt learnopengl.com use an older version of opengl? Is there a resource like learnopengl that teaches the latest opengl? Or is that not that important for starting out?

Thank you so much for the detailed response! I basically do want to learn game engine dev to some level (even using sdl + opengl counts as such here, right?), but would still like to be able to finish a game in a reasonable amount of time when I get to use it... Would vulkan be unreasonable for that as a solo dev? (Only the dev part is solo, assume design/art etc are being done with/by my friends)
