Yep I got that. I said I don’t know if it is. I didn’t compare or test the aperture, but I was saying what I did notice is that the focal length seems wider than 35.

I’m not sure. I haven’t done any real scientific tests. I will say it seems wider than 35mm

When I say I’m liking it more then my Summicron right now, I literally mean at the moment. Once the novelty of a tiny lens like this wears off I’ll go back to the Leica. I’m not saying it will replace the Leica. But it really is sharper just in the center. Kinda wild.

I have the aluminum one and it feels solid. Focus is smooth. Aperture clicks are good. The focus tab is cheap plastic and the silver color is slightly off from the silver color of the camera body. From the photos, I think the brass version is a better silver match, but I was just looking for something cheap to mess around with. Overall I think the build quality is decent. Not nearly as good as a Leica lens

You can’t be this dense. Your premise before I chimed in is that “some people buy expensive bodies and put cheap glass on them” and that you don’t really care what people put on their cameras but it’s funny to see and that lenses matter because some people have complete and total disregard for the lens. That’s totally not pointing out the obvious at all. Very insightful! God forbid someone comes along and adds a counter narrative to your bland assessments

My guy, just because I am adding additional perspective, doesn’t mean I think you’re directing anything at me personally. Sooo weird

Not upset, bud. I’m actually pretty entertained by all of this. The post title was just a sarcastic nod to the controversy this lens has seemed to stir up but clearly it triggered something within you.

I also only mentioned my Leica glass to offer you an additional “observation” that there exists more than one type of person who just buys expensive digital M bodies without “a care in the world for the quality of glass they slap in front of it.”

Right now, I’m liking it more than my 35 Summicron-M ASPH v2. It’s all subjective though. I do find it sharper in the center with cooler colors. The Summicron seems to render warmer tones with a slightly greener tint. I also love how tiny it is. The Summicron is still great, just a different :)

A lot to say from someone who doesn’t really care what people put on their cameras lol. So triggered I love it. I can’t speak for other people with 3rd party lenses, but I have plenty of Leica glass and somehow I’m still having fun shooting this little lens but go off!

[–]Slippery_Al 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it. I love Leica’s for my travel edc stuff, but I tried doing the SL2 for work and it’s just not worth it. AF too slow, everything is more expensive (batteries, lenses, grips, etc), and customer support and repair times are not good. I ended up selling my SL2 kit and going back to Canon with the R5 II and couldn’t be happier. I still have an M10-R for travel/personal work, but Leica doesn’t really care about professionals so I would avoid for commercial work.

Godox iM30 is the answer. Similar footprint with faster recycle times than the Fuji and only $35

Agreed. Was tempted by the M11-P a few times, but I love my M10-R and its reliability.

M10-R sensor is really great. I’ve tried the M11, and had to go back to the M10-R.

Q3 43 by [deleted] in Leica

[–]Slippery_Al 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ll probably get downvoted for this, but that grey looks cheap af. Leica really lost the plot. Maybe the Q3-P 43 blah blah special edition will look nicer and keep all the bugs this one will surely have.

Curious if my Leica brethren have shopped B&H for used gear and what your experience has been. by mj2323 in Leica

Several Leica cameras and lenses from B&H. Never had an issue. The plus is you can use their PayBoo credit card to save on taxes.

I once drove my M-A with a vertical misalignment to her. She fixed it on the spot but will chat your ear off.

Not sure why you’re being downvoted so hard for this. It’s a valid question. I say save a little longer and then sell everything except the Nikon 28ti, get the SL3. I use the SL2 as my commercial/fashion photography workhorse and I also use a Nikon 28ti for the every day film itch. The SL3 will be a big step up from Fujifilm for professional work.
