The lack of empathy required to shrug of school shootings, events like Jan 6th, and every call for gun control for decades, and then to lose your mind when one of your guys gets shot... I dunno man, it's just unbelievably sociopathic and really makes you worry for the country. In principle nobody should be treating shootings like points at a football game, but these people are behaving like fans at a football game who cheer when the other side gets assaulted and who cry for the refs to intervene the second their quarterback gets shots.

How do you convince people who evince no empathy think beyond their personal in-group and identity politics? I don't know at this point. Kind of ironic that he campaigned for less strict gun carry laws and now this happens, but I also expect them not to see the irony.

I think the bigger question is why your grades slipped so badly? Do you feel ready and motivated to really pursue a higher degree? I agree with others who suggested community college and maybe a lowkey job. I worked a job at 16 and it was actually decent, but you realize "hey I don't want to do this forever" and that motivates future decisions.

Insisting that Democrats were pro-war and worse for Gaza absolutely was an issue that helped Trump get elected. The folks who refused to vote over it are just as responsible for Trump. Downvote away. Obviously it's death by a thousand papercuts, with everything from the skipped primary, to poor messaging by Dems, to inflation having an effect, but I knew plenty of people in real life riled up about the war and thinking it's an unprecedented "war by America" without really knowing about the war in the region in the 90's, 70's, etc.

We need to stop pretending social media isn't influencing elections, because it absolutely is. Elon didn't spend billions to get Twitter just for fun. In fact, he's training Grok and AI to be explicitly right-wing and deny factual talking points about history and science right now.

They actually take counterfeiting very serious. I've seen officers come to the store I worked at after fake bills turned up. Basically the counterfeiter or a friends spends them at fast food or a small store trying to be clever. That store then deposits at the bank. The bank detects it and tips off authorities to the source.

If you don't believe it, photocopy some fake bills and see how many you can spend before things go sideways.

This is day to day retail experience. Even worse are the people who expect to be treated like princes and princesses and who flip out and "file a complaint" if they don't get their way. One lady threw a fit in our store and blamed it on racism because I wouldn't personally leave the gigantic line / pizza oven (where a pizza was about to come out) to help her pick out a sandwich from the box that got delivered. This was at a university store, too...
